Jude Law Messes Up His Kid Count — Slipup or Serious Offense? 2009-12-18 12:00:00

Jude Law Misanswers How Many Kids He Has — Innocent Slipup or Serious Offense?

Jude Law hit The Late Show last night to talk about Sherlock Holmes. He's in the middle of a press blitz to promote the film, which included premieres in both London and NYC. As if his schedule wasn't busy enough, he's also spending his free time romancing Sienna Miller with Central Park carriage rides. So he was understandably a little tired during his chat with Dave, which included Jude making the misstatement that he has three kids. He welcomed his fourth, daughter Sophia, earlier this year to a slight scandal, and apparently still hasn't met her. It was either a fatigued oversight or an unkind statement, so tell us what you think — was Jude's saying he has three kids an innocent slipup or a serious offense?

This is why abortions exist. And no one tell me it's a stupid idea because you know it's not.

i agree w/ #39. jude has always been a good father to his children w/ sadie but this is a whole new ballgame. i think he has a right to avoid snarky questions like that from d-bag talk show hosts and protect his children. until everything is straigtened out with the gold digging mother, i don't think he owes us any explanations. yes, it would be nice for him to be a father to baby sophia, but i think there are several other issues going one @ the same time.

Jude has made only ONE statement about this child, and that was the statement he made in the beginning...he has stuck to his word. Any other information anybody thinks they have is not factual. Jude never once said he would not be in this child's life. But think about this...he didn't even know about this child until it was almost here and was already NAMED! How fatherly do you think that would make someone feel? What kind of signals about the mother does that send to him? So this is something he has had to navigate very carefully, I'm sure. A lot that he's going to be able to do with the child depends on the mother as well. If she thinks it's her way of jerking him around, I respect the fact that he's not allowing that. Nobody making their anonymous comments over the safety of the 'net knows a fraction of what they're talking about. He never "played" being a father with his children, he has been a "total" father to them, cared for them, took them everywhere from the time they were babies. This situation is different, obviously, because of geography and because the way the mother has behaved thus far and the legal aspects involved. What, is a picture of Jude changing a diaper going to make you happy? Also, when they were talking on Letterman, it was in the context of vacation. If/when Jude is going to talk about his 4th child for the first time, do you honestly think David Letterman is the place it will happen? You sling accusations at Jude so freely as though you've been provided with all the information that can be had and made your own god-like judgment, when in fact you know squat, and your nasty exaggeration don't bring you any closer to sainthood than what you "accuse" Jude of. The one above that talks about what deity should do/have done, if that's how you think deity should work, then deity should have lobotomized you. Some people (not all, some still maintain some sensiblity) are far too worried about this. Sophia is just fine with her overjoyed mother, and they will all work it out. Do you honestly think she's going to allow her newborn to go off on vacation with the daddy, without her? They will work out whatever care/visitation/responsibility arrangements they work out, and they won't need to consult anyone on the internet to do it.

All the comments about the mother are hilarious... Hey, guess what? If he wants to avoid gold diggers, unwanted babies and STD's, he should try a condom! Jude Law has always seemed like a giant douchebag and this just proves it.

Love him, but he can't keep it in his pants. Yes that applies even if he gets trapped by "gold diggers"

if hes not involved in the kids life other than providing money then why would he consider himself to be the father. Not to say that he is an innocent victim in this, of course not, but if he doesnt see himself as the father of the child then he just doesnt even if he technically/biologically is. This kind of thing happens all the time not only with celebrities, except for regular people its easier to just leave, send a check every month and not have to see the kid. It is quite disgusting but thats life.

To number 27, we shouldn't assume that the woman had the child merely for money. Maybe she doesn't believe in abortion. Or maybe -gasp!- she was happy that she was pregnant and wanted to have the baby. And even if she IS a gold digger, Sophia is still Jude's child. He should own up to it and make an effort to see her. The mother didn't impregnate herself after all! Why do women tear each other apart and always let the man off scotch free? It saddens me that we are so quick to call the mother a gold digger or a whore, but we don't criticize Jude for not being involved in HIS CHILD'S life!

Ooh, good point #27. I don't advocate abortion as birth control, but people use it for that. If this woman wasn't ready to be a mom, why didn't she just abort? Simple. She wanted the attention. And Jude was probably thinking to himself, "Hahaha, bitch thinks she'll get attention by being the mother of my child. Think again!"
