I am enjoying the CD but I purposely don't listen to the radio around here because they'll always play the crap out of the current hits. I'm pretty tired of his skinhead look, though. I'd like him to have a little hair again although NOT that fro! *LOL* I mean, he's not my type but I think he'd look much better with some hair.

very, very true blondesugar!

yea JennaV I think so. I dont think it was as popular back then. now they have to bc it seems every song has something from another song in it :(
JennaV JennaV 9 years
Didn't they sue him a long time ago over that? I remember when the song first came out, people were like.....whoa, wait a minute----that sounds like Under Pressure. Also, U Can't Touch This and Superfreak and I don't **think** MC Hammer got permission from Rick James if I recall. Oh! Another one is Ghostbusters sounding like I Want a New Drug. This is fun...we could do this all day long :P

That's true, you do need the artists permission to sample their song, and I respect Prince, bc I heard he doesn't allow people to "borrow" his music. I don't blame him. It seems like no one is original anymore. Plus, look what happens when someone else takes your song. Vanilla Ice smapled Queen's Under Pressure, and now (admit it!) everytime you hear DUN DUN DUN DUN DE DUN DUN you think ICE ICE BABY TOO COLD TOO COLD, not UNDER PRESSURE! BE ORIGINAL PEOPLE!

Thanks cshkl! I wanted an opinion from someone who actually bought it and listened to the CD. Not from someone who says it sucks just because she doesn't like JT and has never listened to it.

Sampling is not stealing . You have to have the original artists legal consent. I think the vocals SOUND like Prince , etc... Most songs seem original to me. Timbaland uses a lot of new agey sounds ( give a listen to Missy Elliot) ...and also uses some strings and mild operatic, low bass accompaniement, etc... I like crossing up genres in my music. Some people think it's too chaotic on the ears...but not me. BUT, I guess you can't please everyone. I'm just saying if you're thinking about buying it, it's certainly not the WORST I've ever heard. And I'm not a JT junky. I don't regret the $10 I spent on the CD.
JennaV JennaV 9 years didn't seem like you were a fan. Did you buy it and listen to it?

I'm sorry, but sampling used to be known as stealing. lol

So the cd is unoriginal then? Big surprise on the similarities to MJ.

I think the new CD is pretty good. The first seven songs really do channel Prince ,David Bowie, and yes, even Michael Jackson. The last 5 songs are too standard radio issue fluff for me. I try to have an open mind when listening to some of the newer stuff--especially the music out there that uses some sampling. I am a trained clasical musician and I happen to really like most of the stuff Timbaland works on ( Justin's CD is a good example). The one thing I really didn't like about the new CD is the photos in the linear notes. They don't look very professional at all. Looks like someone threw the thing together in their basement...or that it was done by an amateur at a community college.

What crappy music is out there if he is still #1? Heprobably has his mommybuying his cd's. JK.. He looks much better dressed as an adult than in matching outfits with his group.

LOL, You have to watch that Jen. True Gracey, they get so much press for nothing, can you imagine if that happened, I'd be overdosing even more on them.

LOL yeah Jinx that's going to happen just wait! No chance in Hell Britney's on the comeback trail. Why would Justin burden himself with Brit and baggage? It makes absolutely no sense. Both of them get enough publicity now...I don't think they need anymore really. We read about their every move, could it possibly get any worse? and again :barf: lol I just hope that somewhere underground some real music is brewing from real musicians. Considering what is going on in the world today I really think this is a possibility. At least I hope so. I'm so sick of this pop crappola they call music. Wars usually equal rebellious music not sexy fn back.
