Prince William and Kate Middleton visited the Royal Marsden Hospital in London today to open the new Oak Center For Children and Young People. The new section will assist youths battling cancer, and this afternoon both William and Kate made the rounds to pose with the patients. William said after their walkabout, "I always come away from the Royal Marsden feeling totally uplifted." He's familiar with the facility since his late mother, Prince Diana, counted it as one of her favorite charities. It was actually the site of her first solo royal engagement in 1982. Prince William spoke about his mother Diana and how she influenced his work. He said today, “For a very long time my mother was involved with the Royal Marsden, and she had a very close connection with them. So I wanted to . . . follow in her footsteps, in that sense, and help." Now, William's wife Kate is deciding which organizations she will support in her new role of Duchess. According to palace representatives, Kate has decided to focus fully on her philanthropy instead of pursuing magazine shoots, fashion, or other claims to fame.
