I'm clear about the difference between the actor and the character. I just don't like or respect either. She's as annoying as a human as she is in her character.

And that writer for USA Today really needs to check their sources; no way in hell did Katherine keep her mouth shut and steer clear of drama after the whole TR/Isiah incident.

I really don't see how anyone here is confusinng Katherine with Izzie; I certainly agree with Lexie_Kesh that if Katherine acted anything like Izzie in the real world, she'd get her butt whupped three times to Sunday. In this interview at least, she comes across as extremely immature: the Kate comment sounds more like frantic backpeddaling to me and the whole "I wanna go do a spinoff" comment was pretty obnoxious.

I think it's all in how you read it -- she doesn't sound ungrateful to me -- she sound like she could be any of us -- you know -- when you want something and it doesn't happen for you but it happened to a good deserving person of whom you like. You still secretly wish it could happen to you but you're cool about it. Well thats how I read it. Now as for Izzy -- I hate that character -- but I like her and I totally loved Roswell (in school I did a tribute website to the show for a project - my geek days!). People need to separate the two. Now you know good and well that her character has been becoming more annoying and it happened after that episode when Mar almost died -- THEN -- if they would have spun it off (then) with Izzy -- it would have worked -- at least she was more likable at the time (before she became a home wrecker). Just my 2!

I don't think there was anything wrong with her comment--the interviewer set her up to talk about it, and what smart actress would say, "Oh no no, I'm satisfied with being a supporting character on a show that is quickly slipping down the drain, because of the fact that my character is now a crazy lunatic." She was honest, and there's nothing wrong with that.

i like her. i just think that shes not used to keeping her mouth shut at times. lol. shes never really been this popular so she doesnt know what to say aloud and what to keep to herself. maybe she needs a (or better if she has one already) PR person.

I think its an insult to say people are confusing the character with the person. I hope to goodness Heigl isn't as ridiculous as Izzie. That would be so sad. Although, I never liked KH. Always thought she was a pretentious little phony. Her interviews are so rife with this supposed great sense of humor she has, I don't think she's funny at all, its hard to know when she's being serious. In a way she did come out of nowhere. Roswell was on for 3 seasons and before that her movie career was forgettable. After Roswell she made even worst choices. She lucked out with GA. Though the it took 3 seasons of GA for her to get this attention. Funny it started happening right after the IW incident. Which I don't have a problem with her sticking up for her friend, but she's still talking about it? Give it a rest already.

tiata and jillness SPOT ON. i think people confuse their dislike for the *character* Izzie with the actor.

AND AND AND! katherine heigl did not come out of nowhere. she was on Roswell for...5 years? a lot of people watched that show. it was a different demographic than the people that watch greys, so dont assume that because you never knew who she was that she wasn't doing anything.

An Izzy spinoff??? That would likely be the most annoying show in television history!

I'm over her. She annoys me and I can't stand Izzie on the show anymore. She makes me cringe. And she sounds a little ungrateful about not getting the spin-off...she should just be happy to be on such a popular show.

As a person who has had gay friends come under attack...I DO agree with how she handled herself in that situation with Isaha. Not only does the tolerance of hate speech tell others that it is acceptable, it also encourages violence to follow. I actually respect her for possibly alienating some of her fans by sticking up for a friend whose lifestyle many people in this country still rage about. Many homosexuals are still viciously attacked PHYSICALLY in our country everyday, and I think that the whole situation was obviously not as offensive to America in general as the Don Imus situation. Maybe it should have been.

I am apparently the only person who doesn't watch Grey's (even my guy friends watch it, and discuss it), but every interview I have read with Katherine Heigl makes her sound like such a jerk. I am totally excited about "Knocked Up" though, I think it's going to be really good!!!!
