Keira Knightley's Anti-Abuse PSA — Too Much Violence or Just Enough?

Keira Knightley has teamed up with the UK charity Women's Aid to release a PSA against domestic violence. Things start out in the video innocently enough, but towards the end Keira is subject a startling amount of brutality. You seem to find the spot effective, but tell us — do you think the ad has too much violence or just enough?

Just as a warning, this video is graphic.

This reminded me of Rachle Leigh Cook's PSA. Powerful. I could never stand Keira, but I think I'm now a fan.

They couldn't have made the same point in a less graphic way. We need to show domestic violence for what it is in order for society to stand up and put an end to it. Too many woman die at the hands of the people who were supposed to care for them. Why do we allow it to go on?

I think it's just enough. You have to be serious about it so that people realize how terrible and disgusting it is.

My Vote was other. I am a survivor of Domestic Violence. I saw this ad my heart started racing & broke into tears. I was kicked just like that only in the face, in my ribs and thrown around. I think that it really shows the true side of how awful being a victim really is. I feel lucky that i am still here.

Wow. I know this ad is kinda cringeworthy but I do know it'll make an impact, and that's exactly what they're going for. Go Keira!!

I liked Keira already, I think she a very good actress and very bright, but this add just made me love her! She also went up by leaps and bounds in my book. There is so few young actresses her age who speak out about serious issues. Domestic violence is such a serious and wide-spread problem and we MUST call more attention to it! The women who report domestic violence are just the tip of the iceberg - most women don't report and take this violence their whole lives and many end up dead.

Just Enough.... what would be the point to have a PSA that would not get the message across! Go Keira!

A chilling but necessary PSA. It happens and it needs to stop.

This ad is perfect and by that I mean it isn't taking a very serious issue lightly, this ad can open up a lot of people's minds how horrific domestic abuse is. Keira went up 10 times awesome in my book, glad she's speaking out on it!

I held my breath watching it. It hurts my stomach that so many women go through this.

I got teary-eyed after watching that. Very effective. People in abusive situations are usually subjected to much worse, for a much longer time. I think they did the right amount - the fact that he kept on kicking and kicking was the point. It's not just a quick flash, a one-time slap. It goes on and on and on...

I think it's an excellent way to get the message across.

disturbing but it should be disturbing.as far as the issue not being in the media enough well the media sells women as objects for men to buy and trade.its all tits and ass imagery and fantasy. women are seen but not heard unless purring in your ear encouraging you to buy a product.if you take away someones humanity ,their soul its easy to forget they are human and assume they are property then you treat them as such.

I know for a fact abused women do not get to vote if their abuse is "just enough" or "too much". How belittling to have such a vote. This is real, this is what happens with physical abuse. Watching it happen is the hard part, but try being one of those women.

I'm taking a Gender and Crime class for my Sociology major and we are talking Domestic Violence. Lord this issue needs more public awareness!!! People thought Riri and Chris's issues were outta the blue but in actuality millions of women go through this!!! We have got to speak out about this! Do not ask why people stay in abusive relationships b/c the reasons are very complex and involve a lot of fear, guilt, and uncertainty. The real question is why do men abuse women!?!?! Most women are killed by ex or current lovers. This is a serious issue that up until recently the public and judicial system ignored it as matter of the home. But this is a social disease that is killing our families! Domestic Violence needs to be treated as a Crime and not just an issue between lovers!

I think it drives home a powerful point. I found it extremely disturbing, having grown up in an abusive home, but I think its worth seeing. I hope it brings more awareness to the issue, because no woman should have to endure that, and no child should have to witness it.
