Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh go for their third Olympic gold against their own U.S.A teammates. Hey There, I'm Lauren Bradshaw. If you don't want to hear who won, stop watching right now, because were breaking down the game, and other Olympic highlights from today in this PopSugar Rush. Third time is the charm for Misty-May Treanor and Kerri Walsh. The beach volleyball ball pair won their third consecutive Olympics gold medal today in a brutal battle play against Jennifer Kessy and April Ross. And FitSugar's Lizzy Fuhr is joining me now to talk more about it. Hey, Lizzy. Hey, Lauren. Hi. So let's talk about this game because it was a match I think a lot of people were excited to see. It was a really game. There were two american teams that went head to head in the final, which was you know, kind of an interesting situation. Yeah. So we had Misty May-Treanor Kerri Walsh on one side, you were a two-time gold medalist, have been to the Olympics, really know how it works. And then on the other end we had Jen Kessy and April Ross, and it was their first time in the Olympics. They were kind of floating under the radar. No one was really expecting them to make it to the final match, but they beat Brazil and ended up going head to head with the other U.S. team in the final. Yeah. So they put up a great fight, but they just weren't enough to beat Misty and Kerri who ended up winning in two straight sets with the same score. 21 to 16. Well, one reason I really love Misty and Kerri is just how enthusiastic they are when they're playing. So what was their reaction like when they won gold. It was a really emotional moment. Misty has made it clear from the start of the Olympic games, that this is going to the last Olympic games of her career. She's ready to start a family and move onto some other things. Kerri is already a mom and is going to continue to compete internationally, so that's really good news, but when they made that final point, it was just so exciting to watch. Misty was screaming into the the camera Kerri went to the stands and grabbed her two sons and shared this really sweet hug, and grabbed them on the beach, so, it was just so fun to watch. Yeah. It's sad not to see them play together anymore. Right. So these women have been together through a lot. They've been playing together as a team since 2001. Wow. And they actually went to counseling at one point to work on their communication skills on the court but, you know it looks like it all paid off, because they have another gold medal under their belt. Yeah they do, well, other things happened today as well of course, we had men's events. We had the track and field, so is there anything that stands out to you? Something I am really excited about is Allyson Felix. She won this 200 meter final. She took home a gold. She had actually taken a silver medal before, it's her signature event, but seeing her cross the finish line in 22 seconds, that look on her face, absolutely priceless. Great. Well, that's today, what's on deck for tomorrow? So tomorrow we have the men's 200 final which will definitely be something to watch We can't wait to see is the US play Japan in women's soccer. Yes. They're getting their rematch from the world cup final. It 's gonna be a heart stopping game. That is definitely one thing I'm going to be watching tomorrow, maybe at work, but I will be follwoing it as I know you will as well. Yes absolutely. Cool, thanks Lizzy for filling us in. Thanks Lauren. And we'll continue bringing more Olympic coverage. So keep checking back to PopSugar TV. I'm Lauren Bradshaw, and we'll see you next time on PopSugar Rush.
