Leonardo DiCaprio was the man of the hour at the American Cinema Editors' Eddie Awards in LA on Friday, but made plenty of time for his buddy Tom Hanks. As anticipation builds for the Oscars, Leo and Tom were all about recognizing the people who make movie magic happen in postproduction. The guys took center stage to present editing awards, respectively, and later caught up in the audience and backstage. It's been more than a decade since Leo and Tom costarred in Catch Me If You Can. Both actors have received critical praise for recent performances — Leo for The Wolf of Wall Street and Tom for Captain Phillips. But while Leo received an Academy Award nomination for best actor, Tom didn't make the cut, leading many to say he was snubbed.
Leo also caught up with costar Jonah Hill, with whom he re-created a classic Titanic moment on Saturday Night Live last month. Overall, the event was a lot less awkward than the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, where a serial crotch hugger grabbed Leo, making him squirm and laugh.
