Lil' Kim Calls Out Nicki Minaj in a Major Way With "Identity Theft"

After firing a few shots in her own version of Beyoncé's "Flawless" remix this week, Lil' Kim took to Twitter on Wednesday to release a new song called "Identity Theft." Just in case there was a question about who she happens to be referring to in the track, Kim made sure to clear up any confusion by putting Nicki Minaj front and center on the album art; the cover features Nicki's photo on a mock driver's license that is supposed to belong to Kim, rather blatantly accusing her of trying to steal her image. After tweeting out a link to the song, Kim followed up her promotion with photo collages demonstrating the resemblance between some of her and Nicki's fashion and beauty choices. Along with one of them, Kim asked her followers, "Guilty or not guilty?"

Nicki has long been criticized for borrowing from Lil' Kim's sense of style, and it's pretty hard to ignore some of the similarities in the side-by-side images. Lil' Kim was obviously a pioneer for female rappers when she broke out on the scene in the early '90s, but between her 2006 prison stint and the birth of daughter Royal Reign in June, one could argue that she hasn't had much of a place in hip-hop these past few years. Either way, the term "identity theft" seems a bit far-reaching.
