Madonna Stops Shooting Parties

No, you don't have déjà vu, Madonna is wearing the same outfit that she wore leaving the gym last week. Let's just hope she put it through the wash before she put it back on. We really should give her a break though - she's already being given a hard time for wearing fur. Stella McCartney badgered her about it last week and now Stella has also gotten her friend to stop renting out her country estate for pheasant shooting parties. Here's more:

The Queen of Pop and husband GUY RITCHIE rent Ashcombe in Wilts to shooting parties for £10,000 a day.

But fashion designer Stella, 35, hit the roof when she heard Madge, 48, and Guy, 38, had released 3,000 imported baby pheasants for hunters to kill.

She challenged Madonna who vowed NOT to allow shooting next year. A source said: “Ashcombe’s become a hunting factory and the Ritchies like playing rich landlords.

“Stella wasn’t pleased when she heard about them releasing pheasants and spoke to Madonna.”...The source added: “She’s the reason Madonna is stopping shooting next year.”

Looks like her relationship with Stella is having excellent outcomes. For more pics just

Everytime someone says they are a vegetarian and I try to imagine living like that...the thought of never eating a prime filet mignon at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse freaks me out. I don't know how you do it TB.

As a long time vegetarian(since the age of 9) I don't believe in killing animals for any reason. I understand the over population deal, but isn't there another way to deal with it. We are over populated. Maybe we should hunt each other. The challenge may be greater.

Yeah, I'm definitely not defending Madonna. I think I was just annoyed that Stell would be so pushy. It's one thing to tell your friend you don't like it, it's another thing entirely to force them to change. The nursery by my house sells lady bugs and praying mantis eggs. I always wanted to buy some just because they're awesome, but I think they'd starve in my yard. Either that or my dogs would be bringing dead mantises (sp?) into the house.

Colormesticky, you would love the stuff we get down here in Florida...tuna, dolphin (mahi), yellowtail, snapper...but I would never touch fish from the canals. The water is brackish and the fish taste like they smell. I used to import ladybugs to eat the aphids off my rose bushes. I believe that practice too is common on these estates in England. Madonna still sucks though.

I just wanna point out that she's importing BABY pheasants. They aren't in cages for that long, and they probably aren't hunted as babies. If she releases them on her estate that's Madonna's business, not Stella McCartney's. I'd be furious if my friends were such busybodies. There is nothing wrong with hunting, as long as you eat it. I don't hunt personally, but most every guy I grew up with was a hunter. Pheasants, geese, grouse, deer, whatever was in season. Fishing is fine too, but you don't really want to eat anything from Oregon rivers. Yuck.

Not to mention, anyone whose hooks puncture any fishes lungs is an idiot and should not be allowed to have access to any hooks or lines...many tournaments require proper 'gear' and lb test line to preserve species. It is also common for many marine biologists to 'tag' a fish and request a report when it was caught, it's weight and measurements, and when it was released. It is volunteer but many participate. It helps track migration and other scientific facts. I am a fisherwoman and am starting to read up on hunting since I am learning to shoot before I get a concealed weapon permit. Along with those studies, you wouldn't believe the amount of information that goes along with wildlife preservation. In matter of fact, it is the hunters and fisherman who donate the most to these efforts, while we get lectured by people who have no idea even how the animal lives in the wild. That is a hard cold fact. The people that hinder the survival rate of sea turtle babies are from these uneducated advocates who look down their noses and refuse to acknowledge the scientific associations that monitor this. I spent a fall with a volunteer group and we had some idiots out there trying to do freelance stuff who did not know what they were doing and started poking around the nests. Thanks to them, animals came in the night and ate all the eggs, ONE day after they were laid. With that being said, I think Madonna is an idiot and it will be up to God where she ends up. What's going to be scary is when her daughter rebels.

I got my information from a doctor at the Sea Aquarium in Miami, in addition to numerous wildlife experts here in Miami. In addition, I am a committee member in the state of Florida for Wildlife Preservation concentrating on the ocean. My grandfather was a professional fisherman in Key West who has fished with greats such as Ernest Hemingway. I have been in NUMEROUS Sportsfishing tournaments, not to mention I have family members who advocated to companies that mount catches to do so with just a picture and proper measurements. I am also a huge advocate of most fisherman to join the catch and release foundation of North America. So I think my opinion is of proper authority, and maybe YOU need to update where you get your information from. You can simply start by googling The Catch And Release Foundation, whose mission is as follows: "The Catch & Release Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of sport fishing throughout North America. The Foundation serves to advise, educate and develop support for the research and management of programs designed to conserve and improve our aquatic resources." And seriously, have you ever considered the punctures fish get from eating other fish with fins? Or how about the ones that feast on crustaceans? Trust me, my hook does far less damage. Fishing tanks are more prone to creating infections due to HUMAN error in maintaining a contained environment, not to mention the mistake of many using water that comes from the faucet using chemicals. Being that I have done this all my life and surrounded by true experts, I don't think I will take advice from a 'fish tank hobbyist'. Don't mean that as an insult, but you should seriously ask precisely where I get my information before you lecture me on my LIFELONG hobby and a profession that has been in my family for GENERATIONS. I fish in the ocean...and you would not believe the crap that comes out of a their stomachs that are way worse than any infection found in the water. And trust my, my little hook is nothing compared to the scars and ripped fins from their natural predators. You my dear, truly have no clue what you are talking about. I will do a giggle next time I watch my brother who is also a professional fisherman massage and coax a very full fish back into the wild instead of just letting it die without water...your method is absolutely cruel and equivalent to locking someone in a sealed room with no oxygen.

miami gal: am sorry. if u fish the fish then put it back, ur putting its life in danger cuz your damn hook has already punctured its gills/lungs. so if u throw it back, u set it up for a short life of physical suffering and torture in which it will eventually die due to infections. you need to update ur knowledge. a PHD in physics told me this. i dont know where you get your information from. for all the fishers out there, if u catch a fish with a hook, please kill it, even if ur not going to eat it. btw, i am a tank fish hobbyist, i know these infections. just imagine someone hooking ur lungs with a hook then leave u to bleed. how long would u live in this condition? as for madge, am convinced she belongs in hell.

The problem with PETA is they go to major extremes. I agree about the pheasants. But the crap they pulled with the fish are ludicrous. And when that group starts putting animal life over humans...well. I fish. If I don't eat it, I throw it back. But according to Petatards, I'm cruel? My pastor goes on hunting trips in Africa. He can't bring back any meat but does have hides as well as mounted heads. I've heard some criticism from him, but he doesn't just toss the meats. He goes and stays with the locals and feeds them. So according to PETA, he's a bad guy. According to humanitarians and those REALLY concerned about people, I think he rocks. Another thing about the 'caged' pheasants...they are imported in some cases to prevent overpopulation. Like the logging industry, the hunting industry 'replants' hunted animals.

Doesn't all this make you wonder how they became friends in the first place?
Butrfly4404 Butrfly4404 9 years
Wow, even I'm pretty appalled by this one. Although I could never hunt, I can see why people do (I'm in MN and the deer popluation would be totally out of control if people didn't hunt them). That's just sick to release CAGED animals to kill for fun. I see pheasants all the time out by me, btw. So maybe? they are native here. This reminds me of the guy from Montgomery Gentry who was here (in Duluth) doing a show and PAID someone to bring him a CAGED BEAR to SHOOT. There wasn't even a chase! I don't know what even an avid hunter would get out of shooting something in a cage!
