Another gorgeous day for Michelle Pfeiffer, doing the rounds to promote Hairspray, this time stopping off at The Today Show to chat about the film. Lately I've been in awe at how incredible (and youthful) she looks, and Michelle says that she's been shocking herself too, recently, only with her ability to branch out with this movie. Here's what she had to say on the show:
- “I’m surprised that I’m funny. I don’t consider myself funny.”
- “I’m grateful that people think [Hairspray] is against my type. I guess it’s nice to surprise yourself and to surprise others and to venture into dangerous territory. Certainly, it wasn’t within my comfort zone, the character. Even though I’ve done ‘Grease 2’ and I’ve done ‘Baker Boys,’ this was for me the first real musical that I was considered for.” Committing to the role, she admitted, “was a little scary. That’s why I wanted to do it. It was a lot of fun.”
I must admit, I was resistant to this movie but the more I hear about it and see how much fun it looks -- I just can't help but get kind of excited for it. Check back on Friday to see Buzz's review of the movie!
