600 people and it was invite only? Crazy. But I'm glad they found happiness through their tears. I remember the first time I went to a 'happy' funeral..it was so great to see everyone celebrating the life the person lived rather than focusing on their death..though some long cries do help! RIP.

"I think this sort of service is better a year later as part of a memorial, I was personally too raw for any kind of laughter and joyous moments at either of the recent funerals I attended. Everything has its season and for me, that includes mourning. But ...whatever gets you though the dark night of the soul..." Ava, that was a wonderful way of sharing your point of view - thanks! Grief is such a personal thing and when you've gone through it, you realize everyone needs to grieve in their own way.

This is what I hope people do when I pass on. My brother died of AIDS 15 years ago and it was horrible. The rosary and funeral were extremely sad. There was a lot of crying and it just seemed like life wouldn't go on. On the day of the funeral a cold rain fell all day but in the evening, the sky cleared up and my brother and sisters, our closest cousins and myself just couldn't take it anymore so we decided to do something our brother loved. We went bowling. We laughed for the first time in what seemed like weeks and at the end of the night we all linked arms in a tight circle and made a toast to my brother. We all raised our glasses and I know that he was there in the center of the circle raising his glass right along with us. Point is, death is horrible. It's shocking but in the end, it's life that we need to celebrate and what we should remember. Seeing these pictures of Heath's funeral took me back 15 years when we mourned and celebrated the life that had been taken. I say good for Heath's family and friends. Trust me, their pain is not over but who are we to judge them for having a moment of joy among so many moments of pain and loss. RIP Heath, fly high above us with my brother.

I only saw one comment from Hyzelle yesterday, but it's gone today... I didn't agree with it, but didn't think it was that bad that it should be removed. Censorship is a terrible thing. And I think people who keep referring back to that need to move on.
