Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey Name Twins Moroccan and Monroe

Nick and Mariah Announce Their Baby Names!

The wait is over as to what Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey have named their twins — the proud parents have apparently selected Moroccan and Monroe!

Nick and Mariah took to their official blog to explain the decision to pick Monroe and Moroccan. Their son, Moroccan Scott Cannon, was named to honor the theme of the room in Mariah's house where Nick proposed. Their daughter, Monroe Cannon, doesn't have a middle name, but her first was picked to honor their love for Marilyn Monroe. They're both selections fitting Mariah and Nick's unique outlook on life — what do you guys think? Congrats again to the happy family!

I don't love Moroccan, but I do like the nickname Rocky. As a little kid, he can watch Rocky and Bullwinkle and later he can watch the movies and be inspired. It works. I do like the fact that the boy has his father's middle name and the girl has no middle name since Mariah also has no middle name.

Expected much worst. Those names are acceptable, not humiliating. At least not too much humiliating ;-). Which is good considering who the parents are...

Moroccan? Really? We're naming children nationalities now? I really hope they're going to reveal tomorrow that this was just a joke, but somehow I doubt it.

Pretty tame for celebrity baby names. Look how quickly people have become accustomed to Bronx, River, Summer, Apple and Sparrow. They are not the names I would have chosen but they're not my kids.

I am disappointed.I was looking forward to the girl being named Glitter,Sparkle,or Butterfly.I think the names are more normal than I expected.Even Moroccan, It's no worse than Pilot Inspektor.

jaan_black: So just because Marilyn was treated as a sex object to men and she may or may not have had an abortion she's not a worthy human being? She was a great actress and lots of people look to her for inspiration.

Moroccan? Seriously? If she wanted something with an M, she couldn't have gone with Michael, or Matthew. Shiesh.

If I was Moroccan I'd call dibs on the "Mo" nickname ASAP

I like the name Monroe but I wouldn't rattle off how much Marilyn was an "inspiration" to me (see People.com)...she was deemed fcukable by men all over the world with mediocre talents; then OD'd..won't even go into the abortion claims and whatever else she "achieved" in her terribly short life
