Oscar Pistorius's Ex Gets Emotional Describing a Past Gun Incident

The latest testimony to come out of the high-profile Oscar Pistorius trial is that of the Paralympic athlete's ex-girlfriend, Samantha Taylor, who became emotional on Friday as she described Oscar firing a gun out of a car's open sunroof when he was angry with a police officer. She and Oscar first met in 2010, when she was 17, and they started dating in 2011 before breaking up twice, the final time in November 2012 after Oscar brought Reeva Steenkamp to an event. The prosecutor asked Taylor if, while she and Oscar were dating, he'd ever woken her up because he thought he heard an intruder. Taylor said yes, several times, and she also opened up about a time Oscar fired a gun in her presence.

According to Taylor, in September 2012, Oscar's friend was pulled over for speeding near Johannesburg when she was riding in the backseat. The police offer spotted Oscar's pistol on the seat, and when he picked it up and emptied its magazine, Oscar became upset. After they pulled away, Oscar and his friend joked about shooting a traffic light, and Taylor said, "I saw Oscar take his gun and shoot out of the car roof. A very loud sound. They both laughed."

Another testimony came from Pieter Baba, a security guard who came to Oscar's house the night of Steenkamp's murder. According to Baba, he called Oscar after neighbors reported gunshots. Oscar told him everything was "fine" before calling him back, crying but not saying anything. The line went dead, and Baba said he later saw the athlete carrying Steenkamp's body down the stairs. "I was so shocked. I couldn't think for a few moments," he said.
