I will believe what Owen says when he finally speaks. And if his story sound unbelievable then SO WHAT. I will still respect Owen for not wanting his business all out into the streets. But Owen already knows that the public wants to know what happen, so he'll come up with something to say before he goes back to work. And I couldn't care less what it was...Actually I wish Owen would NEVER speak on it at all. Because no manner what Owen says, someone will try to make him feel even worse about it. It will be nothing but and unneeded joke for others to laugh at on any stage. Anyway...get better soon Owen.

YAY for Owen! I wasn't that big a fan of him before but now I've kind of been drawn to him since the whole suicide thing.

I'm compelled to address how ridiculous this notion that Owen and his people are making up a story about a suicide attempt to cover up an OD is.First of all, the only thing that's been confirmed as fact is that he attempted suicide--that information did not come from Owen or his publicist but the police, and I find it highly unlikely that Owen Wilson's PR person has enough sway over the LAPD to make them doctor official records. Outside of that, there has been no confirmation of how and why--all the reports about slit wrists have been contributed to "unnamed sources" and based on speculation.Second, besides the request for privacy, there has been complete silence from Owen, his family and friends, his publicist and reps. If there was some cover-up or publicity stunt at play here, then his PR people would be doing something to try and control his public image--issuing statements, denying rumors, getting someone to talk on the record about what happened. Instead, they've been mum, allowing media speculation to run wild--an utter lack of public relations and spin. If it turns out that the reports of him slitting his wrists are false, then it's probably because the media has very little information to go on and has gotten the story wrong. And finally, out of all the possible cover-ups for an OD, a suicide attempt is by far the stupidest and riskiest. As far as men go in our society, mental illness and suicide carry more stigma than drug addiction--no matter how awful it sounds, the latter has a certain "cool" factor in pop culture that the former doesn't. Despite the claims from movie industry folks that this incident won't affect Owen's movie career, I think it's naive to think it won't alter the public's perception of him. Most of his movies, or at least the roles he plays in them, are targeted at a young male demographic, and a suicide attempt really throws into doubt whether they'll continue to relate to his persona, or whether the general moviegoing public will still buy him in the laid-back, carefree, comedic roles he has made his specialty. There may be an outpouring of sympathy right now, but this is going to be a major headache for studios and Owen down the road. Truly, if they were trying to cover up an overdose, any reasonably intelligent PR person would go with pneumonia/exhaustion/dehydration/horrible home accident.

Whatever happened, he's obviously not in a healthy, self-love sort of place. Personally - and I know I'm not alone in this - I would genuinely miss him if he were gone and I hope he reaches a point where he can recognize his worth and can feel the love of his family, friends, and fans.

Look, don't jump on my back for this but...I don't think Owen tried to kill himself. Besides not having bandages on hsi wrists (which would DEF be there if had cut himself) I think what really happened is he overdosed. Overdose or suicide? In terms of garning public sympathy and avoiding insurance problems, the lesser of two evils is telling people you tried to commit suicide.
