Photos and Interviews of the Twilight Kids in Vanity Fair

All's Fair For Kristen, Robert and Their Costars in Twilight

The many actors from the hotly anticipated upcoming Twilight film were rounded up by Vanity Fair for their December issue. In addition to taking lots of photos, the magazine sat each of the movie's stars down for individual Q&A sessions. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have been attracting an especially large amount of attention lately as the lead characters — maybe because women can't resist a vampire tale? — and they both had lots to say about the process of working together. Here's more:

  • Kristen on working with Robert: "Well, I basically cast him. We did one day of auditions and a bunch of guys came in. Catherine Hardwicke, the director, afterwards was like, 'What do you think? This is such a hard choice.' I was like, 'Are you kidding me!? It's such an obvious choice!' It couldn't have been better. It was sort of perfect."
  • Robert on preparing for his role: "I basically spent two months thinking, 'O.K., how can I play this character like he is written and be absolutely nothing like him in real life? How can I get away from the most major aspect of his description — his appearance?' As it is written from Bella’s perspective, she describes him in this obsessively lustful way. She does not see a single flaw in him at all. It’s a very traditional aspect of first or young love. So, it took me ages to think of it, but it ended up being really simple: if you are in love with someone, you can’t see any flaw in the other person. So I finally figured out that I didn’t have to play the most beautiful man on the planet, but just play a man in love."
  • Kristen on her trademark style: "I'm a really typical girl. I look like everyone."
  • Robert on his trademark style: "Looking terrible. Truly, I wear the same thing every day. I don’t know how to use a washer machine."

While most people wouldn't agree with their impressions of themselves, Kristen and Robert both seem to be ready for the fan mania and to be catapulted even more into the spotlight when the movie opens next Friday on Nov. 21.

Can't wait to see this film!!! I've supported Robert Pattinson since I saw him in 'HP Goblet of Fire' as Cedric Diggory. Looking forward to seeing him as the next 'Big Thing.' He certainly has the right attitude necessary to go far : )

From what I've heard, and GS's description, I don't think I'd like these books much.

anya_t, I read the first book (which is supposedly the best one) and I still think it's overhyped. It's not the next Harry Potter, sorry. I'm so sick of hearing about Twilight. My friends told me it was SOOO good and I was very disappointed. That's why I think it was overhyped.I think it's funny that a lot of mothers in particular seem to enjoy these books. What about it do you like? (I'm asking honestly, not trying to be sarcastic). The writing makes me cringe the most because it seems like a 12 year old girl wrote it and its unbelievably cheesy. Give me Shakespeare any day over these books.

This series is EXTREMELY overhyped and I'm not enthused about the movie, although I know I will eventually see it because several of my friends are fans. Honestly, though, I've read better fan fiction than these books and I rarely read fan fiction.Kristen is very pretty, she's not drop dead gorgeous but I think she has nice looks. Robert doesn't do anything for me.

I just read the first book last week and I thought it was... alright. It doesn't come even close to the magic (pun intended) that surround the Harry Potter ones. The whole story about them being so madly in love was extremely corny and I think the movie will be as well.

Im sorry, but writing something for the teen girl market where the teen girl says she will die without this boy that she met in highschool is awful. And having her just go lay down in the woods to die when he breaks up with her....so wrong. HAVING TO ASK PERMISSION TO DO THINGS...unacceptable.

I can resist! those books are terrible!

And to comment on what Great Sommelier said above, why does every book, movie, etc. have to set back the feminist movement 50 years??? Has anything actually changed? I mean, really...just let it go. We are still women, still strong, etc. and to be honest, Bella may be insecure, but are there not girls out there who are just as insecure. Doesn't it show them that even being insecure, you can still think for yourself and be brave?!?

I am in love with the book and I pictured Bella looking alot like Kristen, but I pictured Edward differently...whiter, taller, manlier. I think Robert is too pretty. We'll see how he does in the movie. Maybe he will change my mind when he plays the sexiest vampire EVER!As usual with movies, it will be hard to see the changes that they make from the book...but remember people, IT IS A MOVIE and they need to entertain. The whole seen where Bella tells Edward that she knows he is a vampire- that happened in a car- not so exciting for a movie. So they had to do it in the forest. Keep your mind open and let the movie entertain you. I can't wait!!!

I actually didn't care for him being cast nor her. It kind of annoyed me. Dont' get me wrong. he's cute and all. but NOT EDWARD HOT. and she's NOT BELLA. ugh. i dont' want to be disappointed. I know I will be and that wont' stop me from seeing it. They do look hot here. But ... Ugh i just want to see it and get it over with.

I must be on some other planet as I haven't heard of these actors, the movie or the books. Granted, I do live in the UK so perhaps it's not very popular over here.

I absolutely do not understand the obsession of these books. They were poorly written, poorly edited, predictable, and set the feminist movement back 50 years.

I feel so guilty. I haven't read any of the books, and yet I bought the last ticket for the midnight showing of it for my friend's birthday party. Some girl is probably crying because of me... But these pictures are really hot. Everyone looks very good in them

i'm looking foreward to the movie. as one of the "older" fans...but not one of the few! ;) it will be fun to see the movie to see how close it actually holds up to the book.

I was against him as Cedric in Harry Potter. I haven't read the Twilight books so I'm not really into the hype. I am kinda sick of seeing them everywhere, but if I were into Twilight I would be all for it. Kristen is really boring and extremely plain to me. She reminds me A LOT of Evan Rachel Wood and in a bad way..
