Was It Reasonable For Kirsten to Ban Someone From Her Set?

Kirsten Dunst stepped out in LA last night this week for dinner with friends at Iroha Sushi of Tokyo. She's got How to Lose Friends and Alienate People hitting theaters next month, but apparently Kirsten managed to alienate one person while she was shooting the movie. Toby Young, who wrote the book the film is based on, told The Spectator that Kirsten asked the director to keep Toby off the set after he made what he thought were helpful comments to the director about Kirsten's take on her character. What do you think — was it reasonable for Kirsten to ban someone from her movie set?

After reading the book, I'd say YES. Haha, I love the book and Toby Young is really funny but he's a total ass and was probably on cloud nine being surrounded by celebrities, I can only imagine the kind of things he said/did.

well she's certainly losing friends and alienating people :)

i don't think she's that great of an actress, and it was his book, without which she would not have had the part...

She does not come across as a very nice person. However, she's the movie star and she gets to choose - and if this all sounds quick to judge, I can add that I've worked pretty closely with Toby Young and he is a pretty insufferable person too.

Toby's just trying to help; and without the book, Kirsten wouldn't be shooting any movie.

Kirsten had no right to do that. Even though the author had no real place in the making of the movie, he still has the right to offer his ideas--he created the book! She seems so arrogant to me.

im sorry ,but he wrote the book, not the script right?! soo, when someone have paid a lot of money for the rights to that book, the author is kinda out of the picture....Its the directors job giving directions to the actors...not the author....

I never really cared for her, she always came across as kind of a b*tch. I remember when she made this movie "Fifteen and Pregnant" and she had an interviewer asked what she would do in her character's situation, and she said "I would never be that stupid to get pregnant at 15". After that comment, I lost the little respect I had for her.But in response to this, it's called constructive criticism. Learn to take it!

if she wrote the book i think it's entirely reasonable for her to want the character to be portrayed truthfully according to the book.

It's interesting to hear the comments about Kirsten. I know a couple of actor acquaintances who have said almost all the same things (like being egotistical, with a mean streak to boot) but I wasn't sure if they had something against her or were maybe even suffering from a teensy bit of professional jealousy. But apparently they're perceptions are shared by many more!

I have never really liked Kirsten. I don't find her all that talented and she just seems like she has a major attitude. Kirsten is an actor not a director or producer. She should have minded her own business and did her thing.

Absolutely not. Toby said something to the PRODUCER, not the Kirsten, and it was up to the producer whether to follow up on his suggestion or not. Kirsten should shut up and do her job. Actors are not gods, they are hired to act.

I said maybe, only because I heard that Toby Young is really rude and I wouldn't want him around me while I'm trying to film. But I honestly don't care. Why is Kirsten seen so often in the tabloids? She hasn't had a hit movie in a looong time and I can't even name some of her recent works. I won't lie, I do like some of her older movies, but her personal life is boring.

I read his article and prior to her asking that he be removed from the set he acted like a total creep and in his own oppinion came across like a stalker. He didn't introduce himself to her just walked up and said something like "so have you fallen in love with me yet?" which from some no name weirdo would probably freak me out too. What he meant to say was did the character you're playing fall in love with the character based on me yet? But that's not what he said...BIG Difference! I also agree that he really has no say in the production of the movie since he sold his rights. The guy sounds like a total douche and I'm no huge fan of Kristen but I prob would have asked that they kick him out too. Just sayin...
