Photos and Quotes From Rihanna in January's GQ 2009-12-15 10:00:08

Topless Rihanna Really Bares All For a GQ Photo Shoot

Rihanna shows a lot of skin on the cover of January's GQ. Scantily-clad was also the theme for inside the magazine, and Rihanna was similarly ready to bare all when the interview turned to talking about Chris Brown and the night he assaulted her. She's promoting her new album, Rated R, but Rihanna opened up about deciding to talk about the incident, how doing so has liberated her, and what she learned from the whole ordeal. She said:

  • On deciding talking was the right thing to do: "Because I wanted to move on. And I knew that was the only way I could have done it. And I wanted people to move on with me. 'Cause the last big thing they know about me is That Night. And I don't want that to be what people define me as."
  • On what she learned: "Um . . . really really really that love is blind. It took a lot of strength to pull out of that relationship. To finally just officially cut it off. It was like night and day. It was two different worlds. It was the world I lived for two years, and then having the strength to say, I'm gonna step into my own world. Start over.'"
  • On being liberated by talking about the assault: "It's relieving. Because it was built up for so long, and all these thoughts and emotions have been running through my mind for the past eight months. And now it's like I finally get to let go and move on."

On a side-note, Logan. I am completely agreeing with your comments on what is acceptable in media and the standards that real society is held to. Very unrealistic and not fair! :)

Logan - Not to keep coming back & talking about the same thing. It's just that you're still not getting my point. I respect your opinion and it's great that there is this forum where we can write and respond to anything and everything! However, I will stand by my point: "The biggest part about this that bothers me is the picture with her hands over her crotch." You go back and repeat yourself about comparing apples to oranges. I did look back at Taylor Lautner's Rolling Stone pics and you mention him posing in a wet t-shirt. You can't forget that it is acceptable in the U.S. for a man to be completely shirtless, not for women. So Taylor wearing a t-shirt that's wet doesn't expose anything we are not used to seeing. If it's a woman in a wet t-shirt, then it is unacceptable b/c women do not expose their chests unless it's a porno mag. And with the picture of him slouching with his crotch visible, that still does not match with what I said bothered me about Rihanna's crotch being visible. HER HANDS ARE TOUCHING HERSELF. Aside from what is ok or not ok for men or women to pose similarly or differently, that's what makes it porn-like. Her hands touching her genital area. Show me a picture of Robert or Taylor touching themselves on their private areas then we can be on the same page.

Logan - You are saying this is similar to Taylor & Robert's shirtless pics? The biggest part about this that bothers me is the picture with her hands over her crotch. There is a difference between being hot & wearing little clothes to just plain disgusting. I don't think you're seeing the point as you are comparing her lack of clothing to just "lack of clothing." No, she's posing like she is in a porno mag. If I ever saw Taylor or Robert in that exact same pose with their hands over their junk, I'd think it was disgusting, too.

Logan, it's so funny, your comment applies to women on an individual basis too, in real life, not when we are looking at celebrities, all a man has to be is "normal looking" not too heavy, not too skinny, nothing glaringly wrong with this face and a great personality and he is automatically attractive, but as women we feel like we have to have the photoshopped body of Gisele in order to be attractive. I think if both sexes would relax and learn to see that their flaws are not as important to others as they are to themselves we would be in a better place.

Logan - I totally agree with what you are saying. You have made some very good points. My problem with Rihanna however is that she just annoys me so much. I hate that pose she is doing above, it makes my skin crawl. And she does always seem to go on about sex. I just find her.......I'm not sure what word would describe it best? Tacky? Shallow? I dont know, but I know I dont like it! (I also dont like her short hair and she wears really silly outfits sometimes, but now I am just being unfair!)

This is border-line trashy. I love Rihanna and her music but these "looks" don't flatter or give her a good image. I kinda miss the old Rihanna, before this mess happened. I understand she was hurt by Chris but I'm really tired of hearing about it in every magazine article.
