Photos and Quotes from Taylor Momsen in Teen Vogue September 2009

Boy-Eater Taylor Momsen Is Not Hannah Montana

Taylor Momsen wore her signature heavy eyeliner on the September cover of Teen Vogue. We're used to seeing Taylor as Jenny Humphrey on Gossip Girl but have also gotten a peek at her rock-n-roll side performing with her band The Pretty Reckless this Summer. Taylor talks about dating boys her age and how she almost became Hannah Montana. Here's more:

  • On being mature for her age: "I live a very adult life: I have two different careers; I'm on tour. What am I going to do, hang out with the high school kids? I just can't relate to what they talk about—it seems so petty ... My parents know that I'm not going to date someone who's sixteen. Boys are so much less mature than girls as it is; there's just no way— I would eat a boy my age alive."
  • On her rock-n-roll look and sound: "I had long, pretty hair, and it didn't fit me. I'm pretty, but I'm not, like, a "pretty girl." So I pulled up a bunch of photos of Joan Jett and said, "Do that to my hair." There was a distinct change in my wardrobe, too, and I know people were a little, um, taken aback. But it wasn't me that changed—it was just that I decided to start being myself. Now I do my own makeup, my own hair, and dress myself, and it feels better ... I would never want to do something in music that isn't representing me—I'd feel like I was faking myself. I wanted to have it all done so I could say, "Here's who I am, either you like it or you don't."
  • On whether she's relieved she didn't get chosen for Hannah Montana after being a finalist: "I think it's a great opportunity for Miley, but yeah, I guess I am relieved. If I had gotten the part, it would be a very different show. It wouldn't have worked for me. I push back."

Haha. This interview represents the maturity she's talking about, and it's the exact opposite. She's leading an "adult life"? Sorry, but I don't know too many adults that live like actors and musicians. In order to be an adult, you have to go through different things than she's referring to. Though it's still a desirable life to lead nevertheless. I'd gladly trade my ordinary, obnoxious high school life for that.

Eh I didn't like HS kids when I was in HS either. What they talk about is petty. So I can't knock someone else for feeling exactly how I felt at that age. I had to grow up early cause of my family situation. Sometimes you aren't trying to grow up early, you just do.

Stuck up, not to mention STUPID, b*tch. Oh sorry, I mean "artist".

I concur, curvylibrarygal. It seems that Taylor is trying very hard to separate herself from the rest of her generation (maybe in an attempt to reach an older fanbase). While I applaud her efforts to define herself as an individual, I believe she really needs to take a step back and realize that her assumptions of maturity are just that: assumptions. She's really just another one of those kids who are in too much of a hurry to grow up.

Oh, and I really think it's a shame when a teenager looks this hard. She'll never get these years back. It's one thing to be yourself, but at 15 (?) she already looks like Courtney Love on a not-so-good day.

What's ironic about this interview is that, rather than coming off as mature and worldly-wise, she sounds childish, bratty, and very immature. Her sense of entitlement may tell her that she's an adult internally and so much more mature than her peers, but she's fooling herself and comes across as, well, foolish.

Wow, immature and arrogant!

I agree these attempts to cound so cool confident mature and wordly only reveal the rather immature and insecure girl hiding underneath. But that's giving her the benefit of the doubt actually. Perhaps she really *is* just that full of herself. LOL.

"I live a very adult life: I have two different careers; I'm on tour. What am I going to do, hang out with the high school kids? I just can't relate to what they talk about—it seems so petty ... My parents know that I'm not going to date someone who's sixteen. Boys are so much less mature than girls as it is; there's just no way— I would eat a boy my age alive." OK I'm 18 and I just graduated from High school and this offended me a little! OK so she is sooooo much better than us mere high school students that she would never talk to with us about things like make-up, hair, and boys! I wonder who she does talk to about things like this? Her mother? Her hair dresser? The cast of Gossip Girl? Her best friend? But her best friend might be in High school so wouldn't talk to her! And how is that petty? She says it like she has to pay bills and taxes! And that part about eating a boy her age alive what exactly does that mean? She sounds a tad snobby like she wouldn't give a boy her age the time of day! I mean who is the ideal guy for her to date a 22 year old drummer? She needs to stay within her age bracket! She is still jail-bait! I think she needs some normalcy in her life before she crashes and burns at a young age! Next thing you know she will be doing drugs and going through rehab! And I agree with she does look like a mini Courtney Love! And to the person that said she has a career she doesn't need college you sound just like Heidi in season 1 of the Hills when she quit college to work at that interior design place and it wasn't as much fun as she expected! She needs a back-up plan!

Wow. She sounds like a bit of a handful!

Funny - she's trying to act really grown up, but this interview just proved she is still a little girl with a lot to learn.
