Jessica Alba Shows Off but Laments Her Post-Baby Body — Understandable or Stop Complaining?

Jessica Alba donned a white one-piece for the November cover of GQ UK. At the shoot in August, she modeled a bikini top and a variety of bathing suits, but in an accompanying article written by Piers Morgan, Jessica spoke about her discomfort with being a sex symbol. She went on to talk about her body after the birth of her daughter, Honor, and claimed she doesn't think she's among the prettiest actresses in Hollywood. Jessica said:

  • Jessica on being a sex symbol: "I don't get it. Every actress out there is more beautiful than me."
  • On being on the cover of men's magazines: "I've never been comfortable showing my body off like that. I used to have anxiety attacks before I did the photo shoots. I'd never worn high heels or even dresses before I did movies . . . I wasn't even allowed to show my stomach in my house when I was growing up — my parents were very strict. But this is the business I'm in, and it's made me a lot of money, so I can't complain."
  • Jessica on her comfort with her body: "Way more comfortable, since I had a baby. I'm far less self-conscious now I have her to worry about."
  • How she views herself in the mirror: "There's something so amazing about having a child. My breasts are saggy, I've got cellulite, my hips are bigger, but I love it."

Her self-criticism might not change the minds of her die-hard fans, but tell us what do you think of her comments — are they understandable or should she stop complaining?

Cellulite? Big hips? Saggy boobs? Ugh how annoying. Insecurity is not attractive.

The thing that makes her annoying is that she complains about her sex symbol status yet poses for men's magazines in a bikini with come-hither stares. She admits she's making money off her body which is sad giving her need to proof herself as an actress and not just a pretty face.

Boo hoo! I had a baby and everyone is prettier than me! GIVE ME A BREAK! Coming from a 25 yr. old with a child, I don't understand her. All I've heard from Jessica Alba since she had her baby, is complaining. It's annoying and pathetic. I used to like her, but now I just see her as a whiny baby. Yes, having children messes up your body. Saggy boobs, stretch marks, horrible metabolism... All of that happens. The difference between a celebrity and a regular woman is, she has the money to have a personal chef, personal trainer, laser stretch mark removal, boob lift, whatever. I have to settle for a gym membership and that has seemed to work well enough for me. This girl has so many different options and the ability to do whatever she wants. It angers me that she can sit there and complain while so many women out there don't have the luxuries that she has... Makes me sick actually. Do something about it stupid girl; quit your pointless complaining.

I don't know...I've never found her comments annoying. I think she's just being honest.

Everytime I hear or read an interview by her, I always cringe at what she says.

Maybe speaking honestly about her figure and beauty keeps her level headed instead of buying into her photoshopped image.

Please, people are blowing this way out of proportion. Especially People magazine who put the first and the last comment together to make it sound like she's not happy with her post-baby body at all. How convenient to leave out the "but I love it' part... To me it seems like she's saying she doesn't feel as beautiful as other actresses which is pretty understandable, we all have our issues. Maybe she's being slightly modest though. How many complaints wouldn't she have gotten if she'd said 'oh ofcourse I'm a sex symbol, I'm gorgeous!' ?

Putting yourself down in public makes people see you that way. That's just annoying! And if she doesn't like going out in a bikini, she doesn't have to. A lot of reputable actress don't have the need to be in every single magazine in a bikini or in provocative posses. She can be so unlikable at times.

She seems to be one of those women that says things so people tell her, "Oh no, Jessica! You're beautiful!" I find her totally annoying.
