Nicole Richie Talks Responsibility and Keeps Herself InStyle

Nicole Richie strayed from her soft bohemian style and struck a dramatic pose on the October cover of InStyle UK. Inside she talks tattoos, pregnancy, and her infamous run-ins with the law. She's moved on from her days of partying and is currently focusing on making a name for herself in the fashion world with Winter Kate and House of Harlow. She also recently returned to film another cameo on Chuck, and Zachary Levi revealed that she brought Harlow and Sparrow to the set. Here's highlights:

  • On the past: "One thing about me is that I've always taken responsibility for my own actions whether they're good or bad. Even when I was going through my tough time, that was a situation that I created. People ask me, do I blame Hollywood or my parents? No, I don't blame my parents. It had nothing to do with them. I created it and manifested it and I got myself through it with the help of a lot of great people."
  • On tattoo regrets: "I'm a Virgo and the sign is a virgin. So when I was 16, I got the word virgin tattooed on my wrist, thinking I was sooo deep and cool. And now I just look really weird having virgin written across my wrist and I have to explain it."
  • On pregnancy: "Being pregnant with Harlow was easy. I was wearing heels for eight months. I never got sick and I was like, 'Oh, what are people talking about?' But with Sparrow, I was so sick. And my feet were swelling. They were polar opposite pregnancies."
  • On Harlow: "She picks her own clothes. It's a 20-minute thing — it begins at 7:30 each morning — but it is what it is and it's fine."

She's a lot prettier than this. The cover isn't the greatest. But I still like that it's different from the other covers they do. She has some of the most beautiful eyes ive ever seen, for those who thinks she ugly. Just google her red carpet photos and you'll see.

It's nice to see someone different on the cover of a mag. For that reason alone, i'll purchase this one.

true indeed, she's not some lame pointing fingers...I respect people who aren't punk @$$es always blaming the world for their mistakes..claiming your coke (or heroin in her case) "is gum", "having someone else's purse", "these are not my jeans", and all the other excuses these losers give is just lame...at least this girl has always said whatever the hell is on her mind and isn't fake...fake being the magic word...like her or not, she's not a fcuking brown nosing kiss @$$....she looks good, airbrushing is what it is

I like that she takes responsibility for her actions and seems to have matured. Can't forgive the calling her little boy Sparrow though. Poor kid is going to get his ass kicked on the playground.

She has matured into a really nice woman. A great role model for woman who have been through tough times- you can turn it around :) It's nice to see (mainly through twitter) that she seems to still have her sense of humour... so she hasn't lost herself in motherhood and growing up. I find her to be a bit of an inspiration.
