PopSugar Poll: Do You Want to See Cristiano Ronaldo Become a Bigger Star in the US?

Do You Want to See Cristiano Ronaldo Become a Bigger Star in the US?

Cristiano Ronaldo is famous around the world for his soccer skills, but in the US he's not a household name like celebrity athletes David Beckham, Tom Brady, or LeBron James. With the World Cup, Cristiano's profile was enhanced, and his nearly nude Armani ads also helped make him better known. We've admired the sight of him shirtless this week as he relaxes in NYC, and yesterday he was back at the Gansevoort Hotel's pool to soak up the sun. He has plenty of American friends after his rumored dalliances with Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian, but we're wondering if you'd like to see more of new dad Cristiano all on his own. So, tell us — do you want to see Cristiano Ronaldo become a bigger star in the US?

#25 well said!I couldn't say it better. If I say "he is the best" I'm intentionally canceling out Messi, cause in my opinion Cristiano is better than him. And if you guys are going to judge him just for the 4 matches he played at this world cup then you clearly don't know anything about him in a football field. And then Messi isn't one of the best football players in the world either cause he didn't do anything this world cup, or Kaka, or Rooney...The problem is that in US only know him for his personal behaviour and that is not why he is really famous. So, if Messi spitting to another player that made him a worse person?, or when Zidane hit Materazzi in last world cup? And he was, is and always will the best football player ever and also a great person.

From someone who has watched every soccer game, I have come to the conclusion that Ronaldo is terribly overrated. His performance was ok, but what really is off putting was his arrogance and the way he lost. Spitting in a camera? so not sexy!

he's too greasy and metro for my taste, way tooooo groomed. Nothing against him , he's a great player! I have no problem with him becoming a star in US but agree with 18 there are other great players out there.

Ronaldo has something that a lot of US celebrities don't have, and that's actual talent. Becks might be more famous here, but CRon would own him on the field any day. You don't win FIFA Player of the Year just by mugging for the camera.I personally don't like most of the sports stars who are famous in the US, so heck yes, I would love to see CRon--and soccer players in general. I mean, have people seen the USMNT?!?!?!

some of you guys sound so close-minded. There are so many overrated baseball and football athletes in the US, so why is there only room for one soccer player? I think he's a great fit, and so would david villa, messi, ronaldinho, kaka, and whoever else wanted to party stateside.

The US can fit only one David Beckham. And that's David Beckham. CR seems like such a kid.He isn't that impressive football player anymore. The US needs new talent for the MLS, not washed out football stars to get promotion.

He's different from what we're used to in the US, so I'm intrigued and I'd definitely like to see more. I'd take a soccer player over an American football player any day! :D

He's a damn good soccer player, so I say yes!!!! American athletes are marketed around the world, I don't see why Ronaldo shouldn't receive the same attention. He is an excellent player.Does it really make sense to drag a newborn to NYC when he should be settling into his new home. We don't know why he's here, could be here on business and it doesn't make sense to drag a nanny and baby on a business trip. He's not the first person to leave a newborn home with loved ones.
