Actually as a continental European I of course know that Delevingne is a severe misspelling of the French de la vigne, which means 'from the vineyard/vine'.
But the most nonsensical American misspellings of a French names methinks
are LaBeouf (should have been le boeuf 'the ox')
and Sheremet (should have been cher aimé 'dearly loved').
