SJP Tries to Change Things Up Before Tuesday

While some of our favorite names in Hollywood joined forces to encourage voting through their PSA, Sarah Jessica Parker took matters into her own hands at the Obama headquarters in NYC last night. Equipped with her Obama-endorsing buttons and Change t-shirt, SJP did her best to reach out to spread the word about the Democratic candidate. She probably surprised more than one unsuspecting citizen when they heard the famous voice on the line, but hopefully she also managed to convince a few more voters to hit the polls on Tuesday.

WOW whether you support Obama or McCain .....we all have to admit that this shows an incredible amount of inniative on her part. It's one thing for celebrities to profess their love for a particular candidate...but to get down and dirty and be willing to call voter to voter to discuss the issues is really commendable. Bravo :)I hope everyone on this website goes out to vote....it is each of our democratic rights..regardless of who you support.

coachluvr - obama has not changed his stance on taxes. those making $250k would not get their taxes RAISED. those making under $200k would get an actual tax cut. yes, joe biden confused things by throwing in the random number $150k, though what he said was not false. what obama has said has not changed.the final word is here: http://taxcut.barackobama.com/

You bring an interesting perspective as a non-American lisa101. Many other countries have a "socialized" health-care system and would want it no other way. Unfortunately, many Americans don't use common sense and instead allow themselves to buy into the far right, conservative fear tactics. They hear words like "socialist", and "communist" and (even if they don't really understand what that means)begin using them as talking points in their defense of narrow-minded thinking. The fact is, America is in a delicate and volatile state right now and I will not allow fear to dictate my choices. We have been lied to continuously by the current administration, about everything from Iraq, to our economy, to national security, and our future is at stake. It's time for a change for the sake of our country and to stop settling for status-quo out of fear and lies. The status-quo is not working.

cholerina80- You stated- "I don't believe the majority of Americans are that mean that they wouldn't want some of their tax dollars to go toward helping those who are less fortunate..." The reason that a large number of Americans don't want their tax dollars put into certain social programs doesn't make them mean. Many government programs have been continually abused, and tax money has been given to able bodied people who can work, but continually abuse the system. We're not mean, we're frustrated. I have no problem helping those who truly merit assistance, but the existing programs (that Democrats want to keep alive) are broken and have been abused for far too long. Yes, it's time for a change. But, I'm afraid that Obama will do nothing to fix this problem, but will perpetuate it by socking more tax dollars into it.

It's nice to see SJP volunteering for Obama. It doesn't make me like her more or less. I think it's funny how some people dislike her now just because she is doing this...so does that mean you don't associate with people who are of a different party affiliation either? I could understand it if she was publicly endorsing him, but she does have a right to support a candidate like every other American citizen. And almost every celebrity that is involved in politics has endorsed Obama, so it's not like it's anything new. A celebrity doesn't affect my vote either way, I decided to vote for Obama a looong time ago.

Good on SJP for actually giving a damn about her country and volunteering, and for looking tres cute whilst doing it! As an Australian I find the accusations that Obama is a socialist really quite laughable. I don't believe the majority of Americans are that mean that they wouldn't want some of their tax dollars to go toward helping those who are less fortunate, including those who can't afford health care - but if you're going to be labeled as some left wing nut job for doing so, it's no wonder people keep quiet. Health care is a basic human right, and governments should do everything in their power to provide it, incl. taxing those who earn more. Isn't that the Christian thing to do, to help other? Seriously. Team Obama!

The Obama brainwashing continues. I guess he isn't taxing any of you to give to who he deems needy. Are you the ones getting the extra money? Probably not, if you have internet and can get on here and spout off? We are spouting straight lies. Obama can't tell the truth about anything relating to what income he is taxing? Is it $250,000 $200,000 $150,000? Who is it? He blatantly lies about his associations with Bill Ayers and his minister who preaches G.D. America and he didn't hear that. Hmm...very interesting. When FBI agents state that Obama's associations are a concern, well I care about that. Some people don't, but when this country is in trouble, remember 9/11? I bet all the Obama lovers will then think that government is great and they need to be helping you even though you just put a man in office that they tried to warn you about. These were FBI agents out of the field office in NYC that worked on the Bill Ayers case. Everybody wants it both ways. You want your change and your family to be safe. Well, I don't think he can keep us safe. He has NO idea. You can't just sit down with these people. 9/11 wasn't that long ago that I forgot. Obviously it is too long ago for some people.

Ahem Joygirl. Everything those McSame supporters spout is straight up lies and they got it from the Repub spin machineand Faux news. It really is sad people believe that nonsense. It's like arguing Mccain isn't an american because he was born in Panama. PLEASE! Use some common sense.

Sigh. You know, both sides could make MUCH bigger impact by taking SJP's example of GOING to VOLUNTEER at your candidate's headquarters the weekend before the election.

So the McCain/Palin scare tactics do work on some people. Wake up. The world hates us because of Bush's foreign policy. We are in a war that Bush started to make his daddy proud of him. We are losing in Afganhistan. Our economy is in shambles. We are in the midst of an eviromental and educational crisis (which the Republicans could care less about). Why is America so focused on change?! Let's talk terrorist ties. What exactly are the "several ties with terrorists" you speak of? Sarah Palin supports (and her husband was a member of) the Alaskan Independence Party, which supports Alaska's seccession from the United States. But nobody wants to call her out on that because she might accuse them of being sexist, elite liberal media. If this ticket is elected into office, we should all be scared.

Something else to add to my previous comment>...Why is America so focus in change? what kind of change? I think this country is doing superb comparing to the rest of the world. Just travel overseas and you will see...No one can fix the economic problems we are facing right now...it will take time and people with great financial skillsI am just very concerned about our national security because being alive is what matters to meThe republicans have done a hell of a job keeping this country safe...just think of how nothing else has happened to us since 9/11 (which was a tragedy that was created in the Clinton era, and executed right after Bush took Power)I really feel that this nation is safe with the republicans...and Obama allegedly has several ties with terrorist
