Should Britney Spears's Dad Jamie Stay in Control?

Should Britney Spears's Dad Jamie Stay in Control?

Jamie Spears's conservatorship over Britney is under review in court today, and rumor has it that he'll be staying in control. He was put in charge Feb. 1, and since then things finally started going in the right direction for Britney including settling the custody dispute for now. After six months, Brit finally seems to be making the right decisions. For example, even when Sam Lutfi's restraining order expires today, she wants nothing to do with him. At some point, Britney is going to have to be in charge of her own life again both financially and personally, but it looks like today is not that day. What do you think, should Jamie Spears remain Britney's conservator?

Yes, you don't fix something if it isn't broken, brit was broken and he fixed her so she should keep him around.

it's because she's crazy. no one crazy should be left alone.

I'm was hoping and I'm glad to hear that her dad still has conservatorship over her. She's been doing well lately, but she needs as much consistency and positive energy coming to her as possible and it's best not to change a good thing just yet.

i think that in general it's a good thing that he's still in control. she's on the right path, and even though she's made a TON of progress, you don't know what will happen if she's left to her own devices. i would think that she'd be fine - but you just never know and this is just a smart precaution that they are taking. i'm sure that brit's not thrilled but i'm sure she sees the value in it as well.

Yes, Jamie should continue to have conservatorship because Britney doesn't seem completely ready to take care of herself right now. I think she's on the right path but she's not quite there yet, she has a lot of issues to work through.

It's funny since Britney appeared to be the most messed up of all the rehab-bound celebs, but she also appears to be the most truly recovered of that bunch now. I never understood those celebs who go to rehab for two weeks! Addiction is not cured by a vacation to Utah! It is nice to see that Britney's family really has come together to get her well and it shows. Here's to a come back for Mz. Spears!

Yes, he should do it for at least a little more time.

Jax, that's the first GOOD idea I've heard, but I think it should be done over a longer period of time, like say 6 months. But you're right, gradual is a MUCH better idea. Baby steps.

I'm surprised the question even has to be asked. YES HE SHOULD. I'm a huge Brit supporter, but there is NO WAY that she is ready after 6 months to take over her life again. 5 years of utter crazy do NOT go away in 6 months.

In some capacity I think he should, but if the real goal is to have her back in control of her own life then I think this is a good point to start gradually giving her back some personal responsibility.

I think the conservatorship is good and should remain in place a bit longer. I do think though, that he's giving her more freedom. I.e. the vacation to Cabo earlier this week, NOT getting an extension on Lutfi's restraining order because he trusts Brit is done with him. I think he'd doing a great job of slowly giving her more control and they should continue that way. She doesn't seem to be struggling with it as much as she was at first so hopefully this means she's taking her recovery seriously. *crosses fingers*Even if you don't like the girl, I don't think anyone can help but feel pity. For her family, her, the kids, everyone involved. Lets hope that was the end of it for good.

Yes. She would be way worse off right now if he didn't step in and save her.

I think there should be some sort of 50/50 thing. She should have a lot more say in business/financial decisions. No allowance but I still think he should have final say. I think another 60-90 days a 50/50 would ease her back into it. The stress and freedom might send her back over the edge..
