Should the Twilight Series Start Sticking With One Director?

It was announced yesterday that 30 Days of Night director David Slade has been hired to helm the third film in the Twilight saga, Eclipse. He's following in the footsteps of the series' first director, Catherine Hardwicke, and New Moon's Chris Weitz. Having different people in charge of the films has the benefit of speeding up the production process, but we're wondering if their different perspectives might make the series feel a little inconsistent. So, tell us — do you think the series should just start sticking with one director?

totally agree with naked_america that's exactly what i thought. if they can do it on Harry Potter, why not in Twilight? but still, as long they stick to the book i guess it should't be a big problem

The books do all change in mood considerably. I don't think different directors will be a bad thing (but then, I wasn't a big fan of Catherine Hardwicke's take on Twilight).Just look at the Harry Potter movies. The first two were okay but the last three were incredible! Changing directors isn't always a negative.

I makes me think about the Harry Potter... I loved the 2 first ones, but then was a bit desapointed... New director can be something bad seen because he will bring a new vision, and the fans won't mabe see what they liked it the first film.... See ?

I'd love to get paid to show Kristen precisely how to 'do' catatonic suicidal zombie. Shit should be worst something in the end. :D *I can laugh NOW, wasn't funny worth a darn then.*

Can't say until I see what Weitz does with New Moon. All the books are different so I don't mind having different directors, so long as the saga is consistent and remains true to the sequence of events. I have a feeling it's going to be fantastic, heartbreaking and beautiful. *fingers crossed* I better hear Rob and Kris say "I love you" to each other...err, I mean Edward and Bella. hehe

Hmm, where's the option to vote that there shouldn't be any more movies made based on these books?

I really hope that New Moon is better than Twilight...Hopefully New Moon and Eclipse and Breaking Dawn will have good flow but the first movie is going to be the odd ball out. Plus the actors are staying the same so there is that consistency at least. We'll see!

The books are so different I can understand why they switch directors ...the actors are the same so the chemistry should stay genuine.

I remember when they switched directors with the Harry Potter movies, it might have been the second or third one from memory? Anyway, whichever movie it was, had a much darker tone, seemed more mature and just better in my opinion. I don't think it will hurt Twilight at all.

It's hurt a lot of other franchises to switch, like the Fast and the Furious, xXx, Star Trek, Saw. Guess we won't know until they have made them all, if any are dogs.

perhaps. i think that it all depends on how the movies turn out. i understand why they have #3 on the docket seeing as how chris is booked for a movie right after new moon wraps right? i think that they want to keep the momentum going with the franchise and couldn't afford to wait, and perhaps couldn't lock down the actors if they waited. we'll just have to hope that each director does a great job

Well it's too late now there are only four movies they may as well switch it up for Breaking Dawn too.

I agree with you care0531 and jaan_black I would expect to see changes from one film to another too, like care said because of how the plot and story advances from book to book...i think is gonna be great as long they dont change the cast and they focus in the esence of all the books!

I'm not looking for these movies to be great - just better than the first! They have to ride the wave of popularity before it dies so i say the faster the better!

I havnt seenthe first one(no do i intend too) so I cant really say. But for the sake of consistency....

As long as the director truly captures the mood in the book, it can work...Twilight was good, I liked certain parts more than others...I think New Moon should be along those lines but I think Eclipse and Breaking Dawn should be a little more dark and mature so switching directors might actually be a good thing....just don't switch cast member's or I'm done lol

As long as they stay true to the books and leave some of the cheesiness by the wayside, I have no opinions. I hope that New Moon is a bit more sophisticated and edgy. I think they can definitely raise the bar.
