How could anyone look at a person spending their time, money, and energy trying to make the world a better place and criticize them so harshly? What is wrong with people?

Hi Ginger!! As usual love your comment.

It's a very well known factor in non-profit work, and particularly the human rights work, that most of the Western world (i.e. where much of the disposable income is,) are too preoccupied with their own lives to notice what's going on unless a celebrity is attached. Amnesty International has been doing this for decades. Their concert tours in the 90s brought in the largest amount of donations and new membership in the organizations' 48 year history. Their public service announcements often feature a large number of celebs--- because it makes a difference in donations.American Idol does their whole Idol Gives Back fundraiser and sends celebs to places of need to bring awareness. Chris Daughtry and his band were heavily photographed during their trip to Uganda, and he's blogged about it, getting his fans interested in an issue many might never have known about. The One campaign uses celebs as much as possible. The UN has used celeb ambassadors for decades. Audrey Hepburn was one for the last few years of her life and was very photographed on numerous UNICEF missions around the world, in pictures much like Angie's. Google it for yourself. Hi Sandy Feet!

Maybe some of you are not reading my full comment. I will not write verbatim all that the UNHCR website has to say. Besides whatever I write it will com back to me as I am a Brangelina loonie. So PLEASE go to the website learn from it yourselves. EDUCATE YOUR MIND.PS That is the name calling; loonies and Saint Angelina. You would have never called Diana "Saint Diana". IMHO Angelina and Diana have given the notoriety to many issues that would normally would go unnoticed by the general media unless you read The National Geographic. Speaking of Diana land mines come to mind.

It isn't hate or name calling, SandyFeet...I also consider she is to be praised for having the will and the strength to at least try to do good!! I just don't think that these photos we are "offered" everytime she goes out to on a mission are the way to do things!!

If you interested in what the UNHCR Missions include, please go to UNHCR.org. There #33 all your answers will be addressed and by the way UNHCR does not "hire" anyone you have to be sponsored by a US goverment official. Also the photo was taken by UNHCR photographer B.Heger and no, no "large sums" of money was paid. I dislike in enlighten those that can not and will not see the light. Go and educate yourselves and stop the hate and the name calling.

Ninha, then answer my question. Do you know any of the UNHRC Ambassadors? Have you Google that site?

Sandy Feet...have you notice that you make the question and you answer your own question assuming people don't know other UN ambassadors??
