ladybugrenne...have you met him? I'm entitled to voice my opinion. Just because you are a avid fan of the man doesn't mean I have to be. I have never liked him, plain and simple. Why do you think we had to triple up on our security?? it's because he's so disliked and it was to protect him from someone who might have wanted to hurt him.I'm not the only one who feels this way...so why are you singling me out?

Wow, I can't believe I missed all the controversy and drama on this post! I thought for a second this was about AJ or Britney. Wow!!!! Farm Aid, why I really came to comment. What I don't understand is how our U.S. farmers are struggling and my Birdseye broccoli (the manufacturing plant is in WI according to the box) is imported from Mexico!!! That's what it said on the box "Imported from Mexico"!Now, I don't know about any of you but when I go to Mexico I try to stay away from anything non-bottled because I've gotten sick there before. And my broccoli is watered and grown there and THEN shipped to the U.S. plant. Get's me pissed off, the farmers need money but our companies don't use their produce? Sheesh.

I work for The Padres, I was there on Saturday when he tied the record. During the 3 days that the Giants were here, we had to triple our security because of Bonds. Normally we only have about 10 police present at a game...this time we had over 50. Obviously he is not very liked here, and it was apparent every time his name was mentioned, to when he came up to bat...people holding up bright yellow pieces of paper with astericks on them and the constant booing. In a matter of years, Bonds went from a wiry lead-off hitter with Pittsburgh in 1986 to a bulked-up slugger. That transformation is at the heart of his many doubters, who believe Bonds cheated to accomplish his feats and should not be considered the record-holder.There are plenty of fans already hoping for the day that Bonds' total, whatever it ends up, is topped. Alex Rodriguez may have the best chance, with his 500 home runs at age 32 far ahead of Bonds' pace.Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I personally don't like the man. Not because of his alleged steroid use, but because of his attitude and demeanor. Also because he said it's all because of the fans, but yet you never see him out signing autographs or interacting with his fans....he's not humble, he's a arrogant asshole who cheated history.

I am just glad he finally broke the record. I couldnt handle the fuss anymore. Lets see how high he can take it. I too was surprised to see Hank Aaron on the monitor. The announcers stated it was a negotiated deal, wonder how much they had to fork out to Hank to make that video?

after all, the whole a-rod/stripper thing would have been like the brangelina drama. and we could do polls on who's better for tom brady: bridget or gisele. and talk about matt leinart's skanky hook-up with paris. or alyssa milano redefining the term "ball girl".

and as far as arod and his wife go..SHE CAN STILL LEAVE! yet she's there. he's probably given her at least 2 STD's. I do not feel sorry for a woman who KNOWS her "man" is cheating but stays. Then wear's a "fuck you" tee shirt out in public. Shouldn't she be saying that to her husband while packing her bags? So..SHE is NOT a great example for her daughter, neither is her husband.

i used to be a huge baseball fan. then i saw an interview with a player a few years ago (can't recall who) who flat out said that at least 80% of players are doped up on something in todays game. very sad. and pathetic. the fact that barry bonds has increasingly gained so much muscle and strength at his age is almost a dead giveaway. he may have the record, but i doubt he has the same kind of national/worldwide respect that past record holders have had.

ALSO, there are PLENTY of people doing roids right now. People are being suspended from the game as we speak. Neifi Perez for one. I don't see him chasing down ANY type of record. It's obvious to me, someone with good sense that Barry has natural GOD GIVEN TALENT!
lorenashley lorenashley 8 years
all these people who know NOTHING about Barry or the sport of baseball get on every nerve I have. Have you people personally tested him for roids? Have you been in the room when a "positive" result came out. If anyone should be accused of taking roids it should be Roger Clemens. When he actually tests positive for roids let me know. Until then quit the bashing and the bitching.

and you know that some steroids dont necessarily bulk you up but give an edge in other ways...theyre not all the same

i dont know if he did or not (see my point above)...my husband played baseball and there are rumblings about it
slashyelizabeth slashyelizabeth 8 years
ladybugrenee, who said a-rod used steroids? i'm genuinely curious, not being sarcastic. i read the ny times sports section every day and haven't seen concrete allegations.
ladybugrenee ladybugrenee 8 years
and as far as "tainted" records go, some people DO believe that a-rod used steroids and we will never really know who has cheated or not...no one on here personally saw barry or any other major leaguer use them, NOT saying he didn't but the lynch'em mentality is a dangerous one to jump in on without facts
