Things got awkward during a CNBC segment on Friday when a coanchor accidentally outed Apple CEO Tim Cook. During the discussion, guest and New York Times columnist James Stewart was making a point about the lack of out, gay CEOs in the industry. He spoke about his article on the subject and mentioned how, although he got great reception when he reached out to gay CEOs, none of them wanted to be named. At this point, CNBC coanchor Simon Hobbs made the terrible mistake of mentioning Tim Cook's sexuality. The desk fell silent, and he followed up with, "Oh dear, was that an error?"
