David Beckham took the field during his first start for Saint-Germain last night at the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris. His wife, Victoria Beckham, meanwhile, traded her seat in the stands for a shopping trip at home in London. David's team came out victorious with a 2-0 win over their rival Marseille, although he did run into some trouble when he was booked for a yellow card late in the match after a squall with his opponent. Despite his penalty, David was pleased with his performance, saying, "I was just very happy to play tonight and to help set up goals for others. I came here knowing that I wouldn't be in the team from the word go. We have a good team and I want to add something to it. If that means starting then great, and if it means being on the bench then great."
Although Victoria missed out on the occasion, she is fresh off a recent trek to Paris to show her support for her husband. Victoria cheered on David during his first game for Saint-Germain on Sunday. He didn't start in his first match, but he came off the bench to score the final goal for his team's 2-0 victory. David is expected to play in Saint-Germain's upcoming match against Valencia next week.
