It's the Olympic showdown we've all been waiting for. It's Michael Phelps versus Ryan Lochte. Hey guys I'm Karli Bulnes see both boys react after their latest race together and get an update on other US athletes going for gold in today's PopSugar Rush. Michael Phelps not only got another medal to add to his record breaking collection, but the gold he won Thursday in London also earned him bragging rights over teammate Ryan Lochte, who's talked a pretty big game leading up to the Olympics. FitSugar editor Lizzie joins us now to break down their big showdown. Hey, Lizzie. Hey, Karli. So Ryan famously told Matt Lauer before the games began that the headlines coming out of London were going to read "Ryan Lochte takes over," which of course is referencing his desire to dethrone Michael Phelps, but the boys went head to head today and that actually didn't happen. Right, so the boys compete in this 200 meter individual medley. Both did a great job. Michael had a pretty bit lead from the beginning. Ryan pushed through at the end. but Michael actually took home the gold and Ryan took home the silver. And Michael made even more history with that win. Right. So Michael now is at Three medals. Amazing. All time world record for any Olympian and also by winning this race he is the first male swimmer to win the same event at three consecutive summer games that was pretty cute and saw him at the end of the race at the end of the pool holding up the number 3 so he was obviously mindful of that record and pretty proud of it absolutely you know a lot of the native Michael's rivalry with Rian, but both guys exhibited some really good sportsmanship after the race today witch was nice to see. Sure, when Michel was still in the pool and Rian was still in the pool He reach right over shuttle pan give him a congratulation which so nice to see a great showing of sportsmanship and Michael this is riding really higher end now world records under his belt. And he's always wanted to be the first to do something in his career, and that's exactly what he's done. And he's not done yet. He's not to forget that he still has two more chances potentially to take home medals. We obviously will be paying close attention to that. Let's switch gears a bit talk women's gymnastics but before the review the final results from the individual finals we wanna get it a chance to tune out to keep you are hoping to watch the and when it airs in your area so if we're all set there. Lizzie lets talk woman's gymnastics. We had Gabby Douglass an Ally[sp?] Raceman representing team USA how did the competition go? Both girls did a great job. Gabby Douglas actually took home the gold for Team USA, which was so exiting. She was just having a blast out there, so fun to see. Allie unfortunately didn't do as well. She did a really great job but she took home fourth, with Russia taking the silver and bronze spots. Well, she still they have got a lot to proud of they've got that team gold metal. Absolutely. One more even we are keeping our eye on is women's beach volleyball so what's the latest there? So Kerry Walsh and teenage trainer two time gold medalist who beat Austria last night has advanced to the next round is actually pretty incredible because a lot of stuff has pop up along the way way Carrie is dealing with a case of pink eye, which obviously is no fun. No. And the girls lost their first set in volleyball in their Olympic career. But they definitely bounced back. We can't wait to see how they do later this week. And the men's basketball team actually came out to support them and cheer them on, so I that's what really helped them pull through. I love that. Team USA supporting one another, and we'll keep an eye on those guys, too. . You can watch the Olympics as they happen at NBCOlympics.com and stay tuned to PopSugar TV as we bring you the latest and greatest from the games. For now I'm Karli and thanks for watching PopSugar Rush.
