Why Did Grindhouse Tank?

First, we hear that Rose McGowan had an illicit love affair with her Grindhouse director Robert Rodriguez - then, the movie has a poor showing at the box office. Coincidence? Well, it's hard to know for sure, but we want to know - why do you think Grindhouse tanked?

I think it was because it opened over a holiday weekend. I love Tarantino!

This kind of movie probably didn't appeal to a whole lot of people. It was pretty good. The first one, Planet Terror was awesome. But Robert Rodriguez is an awesome director. Death Proof was okay, but Tarantino's obligatory and unnecessarily long, pointless conversations between the movies characters was boring.

Wait, I thought this movie did OK. Wasn't it like in the top 5 on its opening weekend?

Maybe Karma, since someone has a pretty solid story the premise was stolen? Can't get on board the romance theory, by that standard Titanic should have tanked too.------------------------------------------------------"All my life, I wanted to be someone, I guess I should have been more specific." Quentin Tarantino is a self-centered douchebag who made this movie for his own pleasure. I wish he would stop being so pretentious. He's like this kid I used to know in high school who always thought he was so high and mighty above everyone but really he was just lonely and needy.

I haven't watched the film yet; maybe because it was, indeed, under promoted and there were other films worth watching for at the time of its release. I'm also a 'Tarantino' fan.

I don't think the affair could affect something that is REALLY good.

Couldn't have said it better, krampalicious. I'm still going to see it when its released here on may 31st. I hope they don't show it in two parts, that would suck.

3 reasons- Rose is not a huge box office draw. It was pushed back due to this alledged affair af least 6 months. Nobody feels like sitting through a double feature. Plain and simple, that is why I did rush out. I will watch the DVD

Planet Terror was awesome, but Death Proof was terrible. I'm seriously dissappointed in Tarrantino.

Three hours in a movie theater seat.. not for me. I miss the good old days where movies were an hour and thirty minutes and not a huge time commitment. I also think the horror genre is oversaturated. Maybe "grindhouse" style movies just really aren't that relevant anymore-maybe we've all just seen too many exploitation/blood and guts movies.

eww I just saw it. No woman would go by herself. I was dragged under dating circumstances with a guy I just started seeing. Otherwise-NO!

I think it's the idea of having to sit 2 hours in a movie theater that doesn't appeal to people. But I bet when it comes out on DVD...there will be a cult load of fans wanting to buy it. I know I do.
