Are You Excited For the New Oscars Format?

The Oscars are finally here after months of anticipation, though this year's ceremony will be quite different from years past. The show will feature younger presenters such as Robert Pattinson, exciting performances from the likes of Beyonce and even a reimagined stage design. Topping it all off is the host Hugh Jackman, who is more of a song-and-dance man than the usual comedians who do the job. So, tell us — are you excited for the new Oscars format?

The Oscars has definitely been cheesed up, and I find the comments are more staged than spontaneous. You can definitely tell. That is my only complaint.

It shouldn't be so MTVish. That said I still like Hugh J.

I've been watching the show 1. I missed Hugh Jackman and maybe the first 10 or 15 minutes. 2. I was going to say that it's more "Tony's" than the Oscars...but that would sound like i'm implying that they are less than classy and that's not so...I've finally figured it out and it seems more MTV movie awards than Oscars. That's the better example. I love the Oscars but they shouldn't feel like they have to try so hard. If anything they should scale back and be simpler that way they wouldn't have to come up with such big entertainment numbers or segments.

The Oscars are usually very boring. However I always watch to see if my favorites win. I'm happy they are changing things up, it better be good! Also, I'm excited to see Rob Pattinson! YAY!!!!

ugh! I hate how they bring young stars into this. I mean HSM?!? Whatever happened to the old hollywood glamour? Julia Roberts, Catherine Zeta Jones, George Clooney, Michael Douglas, Jack Nicholson, Mel Gibson?? They are being replaced by Miley Cyrus and Paris Hilton?? Hollywood is getting on my nerves!!!

NO, not at all. Who want to see the same people win over and over. If you saw People's Choice/Golden Globe award show, then the same names are going to be called. What good is it if you know who will win. I don't want to bother watching batman win again. I didn't see it last year and I will not tune in this year.

Definitely one of those cases where we needed to have the option of "other - see my comment." Either Yes, you love the Oscars, or No, you love the Oscars?.... neither. The Oscars are rarely any fun anymore. They've gone the way of the Grammy, to me... but I do love Oscar fashion recaps, and I'll be visiting tomorrow for just that.

Will it be shorter? That's what I really want to know. Because there's NO WAY I'm wasting 3 hours of my life to see "Slumdog Millionaire" win again! - Also, I read somewhere else that some "presenters" pulled out of the Oscars because they WEREN'T named ahead of time (like previous years)... Just because some things are done differently, doesn't mean much to me. - Let's hope it shorter & NOT 4-5 hours long!

I used to watch, but I don't care anymore. I wouldn't mind Hugh Jackman, were it not a cheap promo for "Wolverine". Everything around the show has gotten so banal, like Disney kids performing - see last year's WTF appearance, Miley Cyrus - or Desperate TV stars handing out something. Why don't they just start a new tradition - only pick people who are a commercial success or who have something to sell. Never again choose people who are actually, you know, relevant. (I'm not talking about best, they've snubbed people again big time)

Where is the option for "I don't care"?? These award shows have become so stupid lately, I haven't watched them for several years, and I most likely won't watch this one!

I didn't watch last year. I just hope it's not all gimmicky. I only watch for performances; why would I care who wins? It's like rooting for my grocery store cashier to get 'scanner of the year'. Do I get a free soda or something? :D I just can't wait to see my sweetie, I hope he wears Paul Smith.
