Are You Still Excited To See Jamie Lynn As a Mom?

ICYMI, Jamie Lynn gave birth to a baby girl, Maddie Briann, in Mississippi on Thursday. She managed to make almost as much buzz as her sister back when she first announced her pregnancy, but it seems like now that the baby is here the scandal is old news. What do you think — are you still excited to see Jamie Lynn as a mom?

I had to come back here. I think the anger is coming from the fact that given the recent rise in teenage pregnancy and the consequences that can have for someone who is economically disadvantaged, most readers are appalled that teenage pregnancy would be addressed so flippantly on this blog. Usually popsugar is a more responsible post, but to imply that anyone should glamorize teenage pregnancy (and I stick by it, a tragedy) is irresponsible. I dont condemn Jamie Lynn, because she's a child, I condemn her support system and the media for making this into something that is celebrates in some strange way. Rant of the Day

I'll admit, I'm excited to see her in action. I actually believe she will do a better job with her child than Britney. I don't agree with her getting pregnant so young but she did. I'll be the first to admit that I am curious to see what little Maddie looks like

I am excited to see how she does and am still hoping she proves everyone wrong. I am not an advocate for teen pregnancy by any means but I know plenty of friends/family that were in similar situations and did well so here's hoping.

I'm ont excited in the least. What a terrible role model for younger girls. All I can say is that I wish her the best of luck.

Well she made a mistake but life has to continue. At 17 I can't imagine being ready to have a baby but she's not the only teen in America in this situation. Hopefully she will be a mother to this baby and handle this huge responsability.

It's only society that deems pregnancy at her age taboo. People in this society are having their babies too late in their lives now and that is causing problems with our children, like Autism. The body is physically capable of having a baby at puberty for a reason. Birth control was made by people, not nature or God, if you're religious. I'm not sure why people are so intent on judging everyone else.

This was never a happy Occasion but a sad one. This will continue to happen as long as this b.s. called abstinence only is in full force.

Ok, I love how so many people took my first sentence and ran with it like it was my whole point. I am very good at taking constructive criticizm when it's given to me. I wasn't trying to justify teenage pregnancy, or say it's the way to go with the great grandmother comment. I was simply trying to show that it can be done without the child turning into some horrible person. I definitely do not feel that teenage pregnancy is cool. But what's done is done and I just think it is incredibly rude to call it sick or a tragedy. I also think it's harsh to assume that she'll be a bad mother. That is very stereotypical. I wish people could keep in mind stereotypes that they have a hard time with in their own life before placing one on someone else. If you haven't been in those shoes You can never fully understand. I can't begin to imagine having the spotlight on me at such an awkward and personal time. I feel that the best thing she can do as a mother is to not let her daughter ever feel like a mistake. Her biggest cahllenge won't be her age or experience, it will be society rejecting her child like she is something to be embarassed by. JL will make mistakes as all mothers do, and it will be displayed for the world to see as her being "too young", but I can guarantee you that a celebrity mother in her 30's could make the same mistake and the media wouldn't even blink. Please don't base your opinion on my earlier post on it's first sentence. I should have elaborated on what I meant.

"her middle name is pronounced bree-anne not Brian, like a man!"I know it's pronounced differently, I probably should have mentioned that in my post. I just like how the spelling is very similar to my dad's middle name, but yet incorporates my first name! ...so don't worry about it! :)
