Sofia Vergara Thinks Everyone Should Lighten Up

Sofia Vergara's pushing back against those who critiqued her bit at Monday night's Emmys. While many expressed concern that the whole thing was entirely sexist, Sofia said, "I think its absolutely the opposite. It means that somebody can be hot and also be funny and make fun of herself. I think it's ridiculous that somebody started this — I know who she was — who has no sense of humor and should lighten up a little bit."

The controversy came from Sofia's introduction of Bruce Rosenblum, president of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, during the Emmy Awards. In addition to the spiel he normally gives on stage about who the Academy is and what it does, Bruce asked Sofia to step onto a rotating platform while he spoke. During his entire speech, she did exactly that: she just stood there and spun around while smiling for the audience and playing up her famous curves. The president ended by saying, "What truly matters is that we never forget that our success is based on always giving the viewer something compelling to watch." Before stepping off the platform, Sofia quipped, "Enough! That's why I stopped doing the car shows!"
