Ad Age reports that Kim Cattrall has signed a deal with Bacardi to promote new low-calorie alcohol called Island Breeze. Apparently the target audience is a "power woman" and they think Samantha's character, and therefore Cattrall's brand association, will convince the ladies to buy their drink. They must have forgotten about Samantha’s dirty sexy ways in each episode that most women do not want to copy.

To thank her staff at the successful O Magazine, Oprah gave everyone a $5,000 check to celebrate the magazines 5 year anniversary. Wonder what she'll do for 10 years?

Mariah Carey has been all over the world promoting her latest CD, The Emancipation of Mimi, which hits stores today. She was promoting and celebrating her birthday last week in London and stateside she has recently been all over NYC. Yesterday at TRL, today on GMA, and then greeting guests at Best Buy.

She sure looks happy these days. Remember not so long ago she had a melt down and wrote to her fans on her web site about her craziness. Looks like staying away for a little while did Mariah good. She's making the rounds and has a new outfit for each occasion - her tops must be tight and must show lots of cleavage.

Shannen Doherty is back in primetime again. She is currently in negotiations to be the lead character on to the UPN's "Wingwoman." She would play a matchmaker. Hope her show does not reflect her real love life since she has been unlucky with love for many years.

UPN looks like they are ramping up for next year - first the Britney reality show, now Shannen. They are clearly looking for drama.

Rehab update: Joaquin Phoenix has admitted himself to rehab for alcoholism.

He may be hanging out with Whitney and Pat O'Brien, but it looks like Billy Joel was released from Betty Ford so they will not be together.

Wow - what a day! Britney has admitted she is not fat, she IS pregnant. So much for the tabloid's being false like Britney accused them of last week. Earlier today we noted she was an author in Rolling Stone - we also know she likes to write to her fans on her web site and this is how she broke the news to the world. She wrote:

Rolling Stone came out with the Greatest Artists of All Time and Madonna is number 36. Britney Spears wrote the Madonna entry and like many Americans, Britney writes that she would, "rather meet Madonna than the president of the United States." I can understand that.
