What was going on backstage at Showest with the chimpanzees? Natalie Portman gave a friendly hug while Dakota danced with them. I couldn't find Vince with the chimps, but he was there as well. Vince was recognized as the Comedy Star of the Year while Natalie was Female star and Dakota was Supporting Actress of the Year. ShoWest is an annual convention held in Vegas where theater owners come together to see what's new at the movies.

Lovely Penelope and sexy MM were at the premiere of her latest movie, Volver. They look genuinely happy to be together. I really enjoyed watching Matthew do press for Failure to Launch. He spoke very highly of Penelope and hinted to wanting a family soon. It will be interesting to see where this goes since after 2 years they still look very much in love to me.

Katie was too busy kissing her man at the baseball game to attend the premiere of her upcoming movie Thank You For Smoking. Lucky for us, there were a other lovely ladies to look at. I know I am a bit behind, but that's because like everyone else who clearly did not vote for Melissa, I barely even cared to report that she was voted off. What I am more concerned about is the recent news that Taylor Hicks may be going under a major transformation. We hope this isn't true but TMZ is reporting he may wash that gray out of his hair. We think maybe a little change would be OK but it's totally a part of his appeal so we hope it's not true.

As for the rest of the show this week - I'm kind of glad Ace got a wake up call and ended up in the bottom three. Proves to me that America is not that naive to choose this pretty boy even if he does have a smile that could kill. Also Bucky's hair looked ridiculous - I loved how Simon called him Jessica Simpson. That was hysterical. Stevie Wonder theme night is the best idea. As always, I can't wait for Chris & Taylor to sing next week.

Despite the downer magazine reporting their marriage is on the rocks, Dave and Carmen made a very public appearance at Fred Segal proving that things are just fine. Life & Style was saying they live separate lives so Dave responded:

"The truth is, we definitely work quite a bit. Our work takes us away from home quite a bit. She goes overseas, and there are times when I'm away from her. It sucks, I will say that."

Sounds like any other Hollywood couple just trying to make things work. On a side note, Carmen looks fabulous once again.

Jessica Simpson may still be in DC to promote Operation Smile, but she is already planning for another big project. Jessica has been inspired by Angelina Jolie and has expressed an interest in adopting kids before having any of her own. She said:

"I think Angelina Jolie has done amazing, amazing things and the international adoption rate just since her (decision to adopt) has skyrocketed. It's unbelievable. "I want to adopt and I plan to adopt before I have my own kids." And Simpson is hoping she can inspire other wannabe mums to follow her example by urging politicians to help cut through red tape that prevents certain couples from adopting.

Jess sure is hard at work spreading the peace and other do-good things. It is nice to see her do something other than shopping.
