Zac Efron had a lot to smile about having lunch and reading over a script at Aroma Cafe in Hollywood yesterday. Friday evening's High School Musical 2 premiere was the most watched cable program of all time, bringing in 17.24 million viewers!! Never underestimate the power of kids, tweens and their parents (who secretly love it). Also, Zac's baby blues, shaggy hair and spray tan doesn't hurt. Between HSM and Hairspray, Mr. Efron is quite the commodity these days, isn't he? I'm definitely impressed with all the little HSMers! Methinks we'll be seeing High School Musical 3, 4, 5, 6....

Debra Messing was the lucky girl who got to unveil the new (and definitely drool-worthy) Saks Fifth Avenue shoe department at their flagship store in NYC on Friday. The 17,500 square foot department (which is bigger than my apartment, by far), houses some of life's little stiletto pleasures and even has its own zip code, 10022-SHOE! Debra was looking far better than she did last week in that little purple dress, but her roots leave a little (or a lot) to be desired. Also, those heels are hot, but you'd think she would have chosen some kicks with a little more pizazz for such a shoe-based honor!

Kate Beckinsale was out and about with her little Lily in Santa Monica yesterday. Looks like Lily is still making her way through that Harry Potter book we saw her with last month - or maybe she's letting her mom have a turn with it when she's not kicking butt on the set. Thanks to Underworld, Kate has made a name for herself as a action star, and she recently explained what made her take on the role in the first place. She said,

"This is still a complete riot to me that anyone lets me be in an action movie. Before I did Underworld, every time I walked into a room I would think there was a whiff of crumpets and fine china. If the character was a cop or whatever, it was, 'No, Kate's from England.' "So I just wanted to do something with a little bit more edge and then it took off a little bit more than I thought it would."

It's very cool that Kate is changing the stereotype of what a proper British woman should be like. Luckily, she's also got J.K. Rowling kicking butt in the publishing industry to help support the cause.

Hayden's 18th Birthday isn't until Tuesday, but she's obviously going to milk it for all she can (as she should) starting with a Thursday night dinner at Dolce with friends. And that apparently includes Mario Lopez who has been spending a lot of time with Hayden's mother these days. Hayden was looking pretty in blue again, but her boyfriend Stephen somehow didn't make the pics. Considering how all-out he went to ask his ex-Kristen Cavallari to the prom on Laguna Beach, I have to imagine he's got something great up his sleeve for the Heroes starlet's big day.
