George Clooney was back to his smiley self yesterday while filming a new project, The Descendants, in Hawaii. The Oscar nominee caused a lot of headlines this week when he looked grumpy during the award show, though it turns out it was all an act he coordinated with hosts Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. George skipped out on the star-studded afterparties, but we saw firsthand that he got the party started earlier in the evening with his own happy hour flask. There's no sign of Elisabetta Canalis in Hawaii yet but we all know how much the pair love to soak up the sunshine in sunny locales.

Beyonce Knowles was in downtown Brooklyn yesterday to see Jay-Z help break ground on the Barclays Center, which will be the future home of the Nets basketball team. It was a stop in Jay-Z's busy schedule, which included a few sold-out stadium shows last week before another in Boston last night. He and Beyonce also managed to fit in a visit to the White House. Beyonce, meanwhile, has some new work of her own — her "Telephone" video with Lady Gaga just came out, but you guys think the 10-minute runtime is a little too long.

Ryan Phillippe touched up his hair at the Neil George Salon in LA yesterday before heading to meet friends for dinner at Dan Tana's. He's holding down the fort with kids Ava and Deacon in California, while his former wife Reese Witherspoon is off in Washington DC working with Avon. Reese isn't the only ex, though, who Ryan's still in contact with. Even though his relationship with Abbie Cornish apparently ended on rocky terms, they managed to peacefully party together at Sunday's Vanity Fair Oscars bash.
