Robert Pattinson suited up on the set of Water for Elephants in LA today. The intense emotional scenes they were working on take place at Cornell in the book, so UCLA stood in for the upstate NY university. The movie wraps filming soon, but first the cast will relocate to Tennessee for a few days of shooting. Robert and his costars had the weekend off, which meant a trip to see Salt and attend a party with a friend for Mr. Pattinson. Christoph Waltz headed to Comic-Con, which Rob's an expert at after two years of Twilight promotion. This time he got to skip the fan frenzy in San Diego, though he was still a topic of conversation when Christoph fielded questions about Rob's Oscars hopes for their current project.

Katie Holmes was in a t-shirt and jeans for a meeting in LA on Friday during her weekend off from the Canadian set of The Kennedys. Suri comes with mom on location, even striking up an adorable new friendship with the little girl who plays Caroline Kennedy in the AMC miniseries. Meanwhile, Tom Cruise has been promoting Knight and Day overseas with Cameron Diaz, and the two stunt-loving costars showed off their driving skills on last night's episode of Top Gear. Katie didn't make it down to San Diego to promote her movie Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, though the show that made her famous, Dawson's Creek, did have a funny moment in the sun when Joshua Jackson held an impromptu offshoot festival, Pacey-Con.

Britney Spears hit up a Starbucks in LA on Friday with Jason Trawick, once again wearing the orange tank and pink shorts that she also sported on Tuesday. She and Jason were then off for a romantic Saturday of shopping with his parents before having a double date at the Grafton on Sunset Hotel's Olive Kitchen + Bar. Brit enjoyed a fun weekend during a break from working on new music. They're back in California after a trip to Italy, where Channing was honored at the Ischia Film and Music Festival.
