George Clooney, True Blood Trio, and Date Night For TV Stars at the Primetime Emmys

Jimmy Fallon provided lots of laughs and tunes at tonight's Primetime Emmy Awards while TV stars graced the stage in gorgeous gowns with great-looking guys. Between the fun star-studded opening (yes that was Kate Gosselin getting dissed) and Jimmy's farewell to 24, Lost and Law and Order, he kept the show rolling as we eagerly awaited George Clooney's humanitarian moment. Big winners of the evening including Modern Family, Mad Men, and Breaking Bad.

It was date night for January Jones, who sat in the front row with Jason Sudeikis, Anna Paquin, who held on tight to her husband Steven Moyer, while presenting with Alexander Skarsgard, as well as for George Clooney who had Elisabetta Canalis by his side backstage. Costars Tina Fey and Steve Carell bonded even though neither of their shows was recognized this year. Betty White continues to be everywhere and after a hilarious dance opening with Jon Hamm, the two presented the first award of the evening. Eric Stonestreet, Jane Lynch, and Kyra Sedgwick were some of our favorite winners of the night. Kyra took home the Emmy for lead actress in a drama after being nominated for five consecutive years! January, Tina, Lea, Amy, and More Shine on the Emmys Red Carpet

The red carpet at the Emmys overflowed with gorgeous ladies last night, and the men didn't look too bad either.

The red carpet at the Emmys overflowed with gorgeous ladies last night, and the men didn't look too bad either. Kyra Sedgwick and Keri Russell went with bold colors, and January Jones followed suit in bright blue Versace. Amy Poehler showed off her post-baby body in Max Azria just weeks after giving birth to her second child. Emily Blunt walked the red carpet wearing a lavender Christian Dior gown with her husband John Krasinski, while Jane Lynch chose a dramatic purple one-shouldered Ali Rahimi.

The Vampire Diaries's Nina Dobrev had sexy, smoky eyes to complement her neutral number, and Claire Danes went with a similar shade in a strapless Armani Privé. Dianna Agron picked a lacy Carolina Herrera, while Kim Kardashian wowed in bright white Marchesa. Sofia Vergara stunned in a subtle yellow gown — check out PopSugar's Retail Therapy for Emmy-inspired dresses like Sofia's.

Tine Fey put her own spin on basic black lace, and Heidi Klum rocked a Marchesa mini. Anna Paquin's embellished Alexander McQueen took the simple shade to the next level and landed her on FabSugar's best-dressed list. Glee's Lea Michele had feminine ruffle accents on her navy Oscar de la Renta and Modern Family's Julie Bowen had similar detail on her J. Mendel. Alicia Keys showed off her growing baby bump as she joined her husband, Swizz Beatz, as well as Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z at the Rock the Bells concert in NYC yesterday. The power couples checked out a show by Lauryn Hill with other famous friends like Chris Rock and Mary J. Blige. Alicia and Swizz are home again in the Big Apple after getting married last month in Corsica and later enjoying a bikini-filled honeymoon. Beyonce recently had some two-piece time of her own, as she and Jay-Z are fresh off a European boating adventure too. Alicia and Jay-Z will have another reason to meet up in the next few weeks — their song "Empire State of Mind" is nominated for an MTV VMA.

George Clooney Dishes on Brad Pitt and John Krasinski in the Emmy Press Room

George Clooney made his way back to the Emmy press room to discuss winning the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award.

George Clooney made his way back to the Emmy press room to discuss winning the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award. He talked a bit about his humanitarian efforts and how he doesn't feel he should be awarded for "doing something he's supposed to do." In typical Clooney fashion, he also couldn't help giving props to his buddy Brad Pitt and poking fun at his former costar and friend John Krasinski. Here are more highlights:

Is there someone who has impressed you with their impact on the world?
George Clooney: In terms of well-known celebrities, Brad's in New Orleans right now, and he's done a tremendous job of trying to bring focus and build houses and hit us all up for dough and building houses. And he's really good at that.

What makes you want to get involved in so many programs?
GC: I don't particularly do more than anybody else in the position I'm in. I try to pick subjects that I can learn about and then focus on and then do as much as I can. If you have a tremendous amount of heat from the spotlight, then you're able to shine a little bit more of your light in a different direction. It's just deflecting. My dad calls it a celebrity credit card that you can cash in. Truly it's not more than, you can name dozens of people in millions of other industries that are doing the same thing. I think if you're in this position you should do it.

How did it feel to have Julianna Margulies present the award?
GC: It was pretty great. We've stayed in touch and we're good friends and we see each other when we're in New York. But it's still really nice. When she and I came back for the last episode and I came back for her leaving the show, you get the sense that people really do enjoy the fact that we ended up sort of together at the end. So it meant a lot to have her standing there. It was a nice thing.

Who did you bring as a date and what did you do today to prepare?
GC: She picked me up in Italy, Elisabetta. My day today was: John Krasinski came over to my house with a bunch of guys and we played basketball. If you see him later, he's limping. He's lost a step.

How is it being at the Emmys?
GC: It's fun. The show's really good tonight. Jimmy Fallon is just killing it out there, he's really funny. It's fun back in the green room because you see a lot of people you haven't seen in a long time. At one point I was standing next to Tom Selleck and Al Pacino. And it's still Tom Selleck and Al Pacino and suddenly I'm 14 years old again. There's such good shows out right now. Breaking Bad is such a good, interesting show, and I love Modern Family. There's a lot of good television out there right now.
