Tom Cruise hit the red carpet for the NYC premiere of Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol in a sexy dark suit. He's been traveling around the world with costar Paula Patton to promote the action film, and now the duo are showing off their exciting project in the Big Apple. Tom had wife Katie Holmes by his side this evening, though, and she looked gorgeous in a sheer short dress.

Tom's MI4 comes out in just a few days, but his release isn't the only big news for the Holmes-Cruise family. Katie celebrated her 33rd birthday over the weekend and spent the day with Tom and their daughter Suri. She was back out in the city for brunch with a friend at Bubby's earlier today while Tom prepped for an appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman.

Kate Middleton wore a black Alexander McQueen gown this evening for The Sun's Military Awards, or the Millies, in London. She looked gorgeous in the black strapless number made of velvet, while her husband, Prince William, was decked out in a tux. Prince William's brother Harry also attended the event after a dramatic weekend that included helping his friend, Thomas van Straubenzee, after a mugging in South London. Earlier today, though, Harry was able to spend a peaceful day with family at Buckingham Palace. The royals had a pre-Christmas meal that Queen Elizabeth organizes annually for her relatives.

This evening's ceremony is especially important to the princes, as they're both active duty military men themselves. The Millies, which took place at London's Imperial War Museum, celebrate the good work of Britain's servicemen and women. Other famous faces, like David Beckham and his sons, turned out to hear a speech from Harry. Prince Harry honored the military attendees, saying, "I am a young Army officer, a serving soldier. Like my brother, I share many of the same hopes, the same aspirations to go on operations, and the same fears as all those who serve our Queen and country. . . By an accident of birth, though, it falls to 564673 Captain Wales humbly to express — on behalf of my comrades-in-arms and people up and down the country — the admiration we feel for the extraordinary men and women we honor here tonight."

It's no secret that we love to see our favorite celebrity families, whether they're jet-setting around the world like the Jolie-Pitts or attending their weekly services like Reese Witherspoon, Jim Toth, and her kids. We had some great new additions to the celebrity world as well, and the birth of little ones like Skyler Morrison and Leo Bardem made precious trios with their famous parents. 2012 already promises even more exciting arrivals as the Garner-Afflecks await baby number three and Beyoncé and Jay-Z prepare join the fold.

Jessica Simpson was in head-to-toe black yesterday for a extraspecial shopping trip. The expectant mother stepped out in LA to continue the hunt for her wedding gown! Jessica has been engaged to fiancé Eric Johnson for the past year, though the pair reportedly pushed back the date of their ceremony once they learned a baby was on the way. Jessica visited Monique Lhuillier's shop with a friend, then swung by other stores to pick up holiday gifts.

This Christmas will be Jessica's last without a child and, perhaps, as an unmarried lady. She recently spoke about her experiences being pregnant while on The Rachael Ray Show. Jessica said, "I felt [the baby] move the other day for the first time and I had big crocodile tears. It was the coolest thing ever. It did a flip or something. I was like, 'There it went. It's there. It's really there.'" The New Year is bound to bring life-changing events for Jessica, who's among your favorite famous women of 2011.
