Tom Cruise and his Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol costar Simon Pegg took a break from filming to watch a Canucks game in Vancouver last night. It was Simon's first time at a hockey match, so Tom took on the duty of explaining all the rules. Tom's guy time followed a week of fun with Suri after he returned to Canada from a trip to LA. The duo checked out books at the library and went on a dinner date where Suri got dressed up in fur. Suri was without her famous father, though, for another outing up North yesterday when she picked up a warm drink from Starbucks with the help of her nanny.

Brad Pitt carried a simple leather messenger bag today upon his arrival at LAX. The star's headed out of town just as many of his fellow actors are arriving on the West Coast ahead of this weekend's Independent Spirit Awards and Oscar ceremony — don't forget we'll be there on the red carpet covering both events! Brad's been working on a project in LA for the past few weeks, but soon he'll be promoting his highly anticipated dramatic tale by director Terrence Malik Tree of Life. Terrence will be especially busy this year with a second untitled film, starring Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams, gaining lots of buzz.

Penelope Cruz joined Javier Bardem to run errands around LA this afternoon. She's stepped out since giving birth to her son, Leo, before, but this time the new mom was showing off her fabulous postbaby body in tight jeans and a top. Javier was spotted out alone earlier in the week, though we'll have to wait and see if he shows up to this weekend's Oscars solo. He will be a presenter at the event, where he's also nominated for best actor for his work in Biutiful. Even if Penelope doesn't accompany him to the show, Javier will be surrounded by plenty of other friendly faces during the star-studded night.

She shared a behind-the-scenes photo of her and her hairstylist, Ken Paves, as they styled and shot the pop-art-inspired images last month. It's Nicole's second big cover since the beginning of the year, as she also graced Lucky's February issue. Nicole's busy modeling and promoting her Winter Kate and House of Harlow 1960 collections, but the mother of two has nonetheless been hanging out close to home with Harlow and Sparrow and focusing on gym time. Still, she stepped out looking ready for another closeup yesterday as she left a friend's house.

Mandy Moore stepped out in sunny LA yesterday to go shopping solo. The Tangled star is gearing up for a live performance Sunday during the Oscars. Mandy will be joined on stage by her costar Zachary Levi to sing "I See the Light," which is a best original song nominee. Gwyneth Paltrow is also scheduled to take the stage for a rendition of her Country Strong hit "Coming Home" — which are you more excited to see? Mandy's been lying low since a bout with food poisoning last month, though it seems she's regained her appetite through lunch dates with her husband, Ryan Adams.
