OFFICIAL SWEEPSTAKES RULES NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. MAKING A PURCHASE DOES NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCE OF WINNING. The PopSugar “Be Our Scre4m Correspondent and Meet the Cast” Sweepstakes (the “Sweepstakes”) is sponsored by Sugar Publishing, Inc. (owner and operator of popsugar.com) and having an address of 111 Sutter Street, 8th Floor Suite 850, San Francisco, CA 94104 (“Sponsor”).
ELIGIBILITY: Open only to permanent legal U.S. residents physically residing in the fifty (50) United States of America and the District of Columbia, excluding the state of Rhode Island who are at least eighteen (18) years of age who have a profile on PopSugar. Employees of Sponsor, Dimension Films, and each of their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and advertising and promotion agencies and any other entity involved in the development or administration of this Sweepstakes (all such individuals and entities collectively referred to herein as the “Sweepstakes Entities”), and each of their immediate family members or household members are not eligible to participate in or win the Sweepstakes. Winners may be required to sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and complete relevant tax forms as a condition to the delivery of the applicable prize. Void where prohibited by law. All applicable federal, state and local laws apply. Dimension Films is not responsible for the administration of the Sweepstakes, the collection of entries, or the selection of winners.
HOW TO ENTER/SELECTION:
Round One: No purchase is necessary to participate in the Sweepstakes. To enter, you must log into your profile at popsugar.com (the "Website") or any PopSugar Network site (or register for a free profile at http://www.onsugar.com/user/register), navigate to the Website and take the quiz featured on the Website in connection with the Sweepstakes (the "Quiz") (http://www.popsugar.com/14968497) (“Round One Quiz”) as described on the entry page between 12:00am PDT on Friday, March 18, 2011 and 11:59pm PDT on Thursday, March 24, 2011 (the “Entry Period for Round One”). Your eligibility is not based on getting the answers correct, just on taking the quiz after you are logged in.
Upon completion of the Quiz you will receive one (1) entry into the Sweepstakes.
You may receive up to five (5) additional entries in the Round One Quiz by completing the following actions: 1) If you have a Twitter account, by posting to Twitter: By clicking on the “Post to Twitter” link at the completion of the Quiz you will receive five (5) additional entries in the Sweepstakes. Or 2) If you don’t have a Twitter account, by sending a mail in entry: hand print your name, complete mailing address, email, telephone number, date of birth & the words “PopSugar’s Be Our Scre4m Correspondent and Meet the Cast” on a plain 3”x 5” piece of paper & mail it in a sealed, stamped & hand printed #10 envelope to: PopSugar, 111 Sutter Street, 8th Floor, Suite 850, San Francisco, CA 94104. Mail in entry must be post-marked by March 23, 2011 and received by March 24, 2011 for you to receive five (5) additional entries in the Sweepstakes.
Limit six (6) entries per person and/or per email address for Round One Quiz. Normal time, toll, connection and usage rates, if any, charged by your Internet service provider will apply. All entries become the property of the Sponsor. Entries and/or votes generated by script, macro or other automated means are void. By registering at the Website and taking the Quiz, you will be agreeing that your registration and any other information collected in connection with the Sweepstakes may be used by Sponsor in accordance with Sugar Publishing, Inc.’s Privacy Policy. All registrations at the Website must include entrant's valid email address. The email address provided by online entrants will be the identity of the entrant and, if selected for a prize, the identity of the winner. In the event a dispute regarding the identity of the individual who actually submitted an entry cannot be resolved to Sponsor's satisfaction, the affected entry(ies) will be deemed ineligible. Sponsor expressly reserves the right to disqualify any entries that it believes in good faith are generated by an automated program or via scripts. By participating, all entrants agree to abide by these Official Sweepstakes Rules. The number of eligible entries received determines the odds of being selected for Round Two.
Round Two: Once Round One Quiz Entry Period is closed, twenty (20) Semi-finalists will be randomly selected from all eligible entries in Round One Quiz to participate in a Round Two Scream Off (“Round Two Scream Off). Semi-finalists will be notified by Friday, March 25, 2011 at 11:59 PM PDT and must respond and submit their Round One screams by no later than Wednesday, March 30 at 11:59 PM PDT or semi-finalist will be disqualified. Semi-finalists are to send via email or upload a short video to YouTube, Vimeo, or another comparable site and email link to Sponsor. In this video, the Semi-finalist must perform their best scream. Sponsor will decide, at their discretion, five (5) finalists that have the best “scream” in the Round Two Scream Off.
Round Three: The five (5) Finalists will then be selected to participate in the Round Three Fan Voting. The videos of the five (5) finalists will be posted on Popsugar.com and readers will vote for their favorite of the five (5) screams between 12:00 AM PDT on April 1, 2011 and 11:59 PM PDT on April 4, 2011 (the “Finalist Voting Period”). The finalist whose scream gets the most fan votes will be deemed the Grand Prize Winner and will be notified on Tuesday, April 5 by 11:59 PM PDT. For Round Three, there will be no alternate ways to vote for the best scream. When the winner is chosen, there will be no consolation prize for the non-winning finalists.
The Sweepstakes will be conducted under the supervision of the Sponsor. The decisions of the Sponsor are final and binding in all matters relating to this Sweepstakes. Sponsor reserves the right to determine the method of notification. If an entrant is found to be ineligible, an alternate winner may also be selected from the pool of eligible entries. Each entry submitted in response to the Sweepstakes and in accordance with the rules will constitute an official entry. All entrants agree to abide by these Official Sweepstakes Rules. All entries become the property of the Sponsor.
PRIZES: One (1) Grand Prize is available. The Grand Prize consists of trip for two (2) to Los Angeles and includes: (a) round-trip, economy-class air transportation for two (2) from the major airport with regularly scheduled flights closest to the winner’s permanent residence to Los Angeles (or ground transportation at Sponsor’s discretion if winner resides within a 200-mile radius of Los Angeles); (b) two (2) nights standard hotel accommodations (one double occupancy room and room tax only) in Los Angeles (currently to be scheduled for on or around date April 10th); (c) the opportunity for the Grand Prize Winner and guest to attend Premiere of Scre4m, the opportunity for the Winner ONLY to meet & interview the cast of Scre4m on the red carpet with amount of time to be determined by Dimension Films in their sole discretion (the "Meet and Greet") (approx. retail value n/a); and the opportunity for the Winner and their Guest to attend a Scre4m afterparty (Total estimated retail value: $2,000 ARV). Prize is not redeemable for cash or transferable; and no substitution allowed except, at Sponsor’s sole discretion, a prize of equal or greater value may be substituted. Decisions of the Sponsor are final and binding with respect to all matters related to the Sweepstakes. In no event shall the Sponsor be obligated to award more prizes than the number of prizes stated in these Official Sweepstakes Rules. Winner and winner’s guest must be 18 or over. Winner and guest must travel on same itinerary on dates to be designated by Sponsor, and must have valid identification and any other documents necessary for air travel. The actual value of the Grand Prize may vary depending on date and times of travel, airfare fluctuations and hotel charges at the time of travel. Therefore, the actual value of the Grand Prize awarded may be lower or higher at the time it is fulfilled. Any difference between actual value and stated ARV will not be awarded. Travel is subject to the restrictions and conditions set forth below. Any costs associated with Grand Prize receipt and/or use that are not expressly stated above are not included in the Grand Prize and are the responsibility solely of the Grand Prize Winner and his/her travel companion. Such costs may include, without limitation, any ground transportation, any unspecified state or local taxes or government surcharges or fees, service charges, facility fees, security fees, passenger tariffs or duties, trip and travel insurance and premiums, meals, drinks, incidentals, gratuities, telephone calls, charges for changing dates or other personal costs and expenses not specified herein and are the sole responsibility of the Grand Prize Winner and/or his or her travel companion. All Grand Prize-related travel arrangements will be administered by Sponsor. If the Grand Prize winner is considered a minor in the legal jurisdiction in which he or she resides, then his or her travel companion must be the Grand Prize winner’s parent or legal guardian. If the Grand Prize Winner (other than a minor) elects to travel or partake in Grand Prize trip with no travel companion, no additional compensation will be awarded to the Grand Prize Winner. Air transportation and hotel accommodations must be taken together and cannot be taken separately. No changes will be made to travel details once any element(s) of the travel arrangements have been booked, except at Sponsor’s sole discretion. All airline tickets issued in conjunction with Grand Prize are not eligible for upgrades, frequent flyer miles or any other promotional benefit. Sponsor will not replace any lost or stolen tickets, travel vouchers or certificates or similar items once they are in the Grand Prize Winner’s possession (or if the Grand Prize Winner is a minor, in his or her parent’s or legal guardian’s possession), or in the possession of the Grand Prize Winner’s travel companion. Grand Prize travel is subject to capacity controls, availability, blackout dates and certain other restrictions, which may include a Saturday night stay, all of which are subject to change. Travel must be roundtrip. Sponsor will determine airline and flight itinerary in its sole discretion. No stopovers are permitted on tickets issued as the Grand Prize; if a stopover occurs, the Grand Prize will terminate and full fare will be charged from the stopover point for the remaining trip segment(s), including the return. Once hotel and flight arrangements have been confirmed, no changes will be allowed except by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Any unclaimed and/or unused Grand Prize travel package or element thereof will be forfeited by Grand Prize Winner and will remain the property of Sponsor. No refund or compensation will be made in the event of the cancellation or delay of any flight. Travel is subject to the terms and conditions set forth in these Official Rules and those set forth by Sponsor’s air travel prize supplier, as detailed in the passenger ticket contract issued by such supplier. The exact travel dates will depend upon the date of the junket (currently dates of travel are scheduled to take place on or about April 10th. Winner shall be responsible and liable for all federal, state and local taxes on the value of the prize and for all costs and expenses related to the Grand Prize that are not specifically mentioned herein. In the event that the Meet and Greet listed in the prize description does not or cannot take place as scheduled or at all, for reasons including but not limited to scheduling conflicts, cancellations, postponement, an event of force majeure, or for any other reason in Sponsor and/or Dimension Films’s sole discretion, then in lieu of attending the Meet and Greet, the remaining components of the Grand Prize shall constitute full satisfaction of Sponsor’s prize obligation to the Grand Prize winner, and no other or additional compensation will be awarded. In the event a winner and his or her guest engages in behavior that (as determined in Sponsor and/or Dimension Films’s sole and absolute discretion) is obnoxious or threatening, disruptive, inappropriate, illegal or that is intended to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person at the premiere (or if the Grand Prize winner and his or her guest has in the past engaged in such behavior and that becomes known to Sponsor and/or Dimension Films), Sponsor and/or Dimension Films reserve the right to terminate the Meet and Greet early, in whole or in part, and send the winner home with no further compensation. GENERAL CONDITIONS AND RELEASES: An entrant or winner may be disqualified from the Sweepstakes if he or she fails to comply with each provision of these Official Sweepstakes Rules, as determined in the sole discretion of the Sponsor. Participation in the Sweepstakes is at entrant’s own risk. Unless prohibited by applicable law, your entry constitutes your permission for the Sponsors to use your name, photograph, likeness, voice, address (city and state) biographical information and testimonials for advertising and/or publicity purposes worldwide and in all forms of media now known or hereafter developed, in perpetuity, without further compensation.
By entering or accepting a prize in the Sweepstakes, winner agrees to be bound by these Official Sweepstakes Rules and to conform to all federal, state and local laws and regulations. When applicable, the winner may be required to execute and return to Sponsor within two (2) business days an Affidavit of Eligibility and a Liability and (where imposing such condition is legal) a Publicity Release and any additional documents required by Dimension Films in connection with attending the junket and Meet and Greet to be eligible for the prize or an alternate winner will be selected. Winner may be required to furnish proof of identity, address and birth date in order to receive a prize. If Dimension Films, so elects, a potential Grand Prize winner/ and or guest may also be required to submit to and pass a confidential background check to confirm eligibility and help ensure that the attendance at the junket and Meet and Greet of such person, or the use of any such person in advertising or publicity for the Sweepstakes, will not bring Sponsors into public disrepute, contempt, scandal or ridicule or reflect unfavorably on the Sweepstakes or the Sweepstakes Entities (as defined herein) as determined by Dimension Films in their sole discretion. By entering, an entrant agrees to release and hold the Releasees harmless from any damage, injury, death, loss, claim, action, demand, or other liability (collectively, “Claims”) that may arise from their acceptance, possession and/or use of any prize or their participation in this Sweepstakes, or from any misuse or malfunction of any prize awarded, regardless of whether such Claims, or knowledge of the facts constituting such Claims, exist at the time of entry or arise at any time thereafter. Any person attempting to defraud or in any way tamper with this Sweepstakes will be ineligible for prizes and may be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Sponsor reserves the right to modify these Official Sweepstakes Rules in any way or at any time. Sponsor reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to cancel or suspend this Sweepstakes should viruses, bugs or other causes beyond their control corrupt the administration, security or proper play of the Sweepstakes. In the event of cancellation or suspension, Sugar shall promptly post a notice on the Sweepstakes entry page to such effect. This Sweepstakes shall be governed by California law. By participating in this Sweepstakes, entrants agree that California courts shall have jurisdiction over any dispute or litigation arising from or relating to this Sweepstakes and that venue shall be only in San Francisco, California.
