Emma Stone stepped out in Brian Atwood stilettos and a beaded Chanel outfit for tonight's Beverly Hills premiere of The Help. Emma was joined on the red carpet by the entire cast of ladies, producer Nate Berkus, writer Kathryn Stockett, and director Tate Taylor. The film, based on Stockett's best-selling novel, takes place in the South and all of the stars couldn't stop raving about their wonderful time on and off the set tasting Mississippi's finest delicacies. Allison Janney and Viola Davis, who share most of their screen time with Emma's character, joked about bonding with Emma over pieces of pie and good old Southern cooking. Mom-to-be, Bryce Dallas Howard was also on hand for tonight's fete, and dished about developing a Southern accent for the role and what she's doing to prep for her second child.
It's been a busy month for the entire ensemble. Emma kicked things off last week in NYC, where she talked to David Letterman about her "boozeless" visit to the White House with costar Octavia Spencer. She then returned to LA over the weekend to present Taylor Swift with a neon surfboard at the Teen Choice Awards. Emma was drawn to the project as a fan of the novel, and said she's really proud to be part of a project with such a strong group of women, much like her mother and grandmother — stay tuned for more of what Emma, Viola, and the rest of the cast had to say in tomorrow's PopSugar Rush.
Trivia Tuesday! Time for a quiz!
Angelina Jolie stepped out in Surrey, England, today with all six Jolie-Pitt kids. Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne, Knox, and a new friend piled into a van and headed down to the Pottery Cafe. Inside the art studio, the fun-loving kids decorated pottery with their favorite pirate and princess themes, and Knox even left the studio in a full buccaneer costume. The Summer of fun continues for Angelina and the kids following a trip to the theater last week in celebration of Maddox's 10th birthday. Brad joined Angelina and the kids for the stage production of Wicked, but today he was across town wrapping up his zombie tale, World War Z. The Jolie-Pitt gang might be heading back to North America next month when Brad debuts Moneyball at the Toronto International Film Festival ahead of its Sept. 23 release.
In 30 Minutes or Less, Jesse Eisenberg plays a slacker pizza boy who is forced to rob a bank after a couple of low-lifes (played by Danny McBride and Nick Swardson) strap a bomb to his chest. He gets some help from his best friend (Aziz Ansari), but the hijinks that ensue are both hilarious and explosive. We had the chance to sit down with Eisenberg and Ansari at San Francisco's Goat Hill Pizza, where the guys talked about blending film genres, what surprised them about each other, and who they'd want to rob a bank with.
Reese Witherspoon had a busy morning of working out and running errands around LA today. She made a stop at the Brentwood Country Mart, picking up a bag of goodies from James Perse and then heading back to her SUV with the new purchases in a reusable American Eagle bag. It would appear Reese is getting a jump start on her Fall wardrobe, since yesterday she was spotted leaving Chloé's Melrose Avenue outpost. It's almost back-to-school time for her kids, Ava and Deacon Phillippe, following their Summer of fun. Ava and Deacon spent the July 4 holiday playing on the beach with Reese and their stepfather, Jim, then took an out-of-town adventure with dad, Ryan Phillippe. Busy Reese has her own new material to study. Reese just signed on to star in Wish List, and there's a possibility she'll team up with pal Matthew McConaughey in Mud.
Katie Holmes hit the carpet for last night's New York premiere of Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, and even though she posed solo for photos, Tom Cruise was right by her side as the couple headed to the film's afterparty dinner. Get the details about their night out, and hear what she has to say about Tom's Rock of Ages physique!
