Cate Blanchett and Ian McKellen celebrated the royal premiere of their new film, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, in London today. Cate and Ian were joined by costar Martin Freeman and Lord of the Rings' Dominic Monaghan. Although this Hobbit film, the first of three, is being released after the Lord of the Rings trilogy, it is actually based on the novel that inspired the original Lord of the Rings book series. They weren't at the London premiere, but LOTR's Liv Tyler and Elijah Wood attended last week's NYC screening of The Hobbit.

Prince William also attended the premiere but without his pregnant wife, Kate Middleton. Unfortunately, Kate had to cancel her planned appearance earlier this week due to her continued battle with acute morning sickness.

Ben Affleck took his mom, Chris Affleck, and youngest daughter, Seraphina Affleck, out for coffee in LA earlier today. The happy family's caffeine run came on the heels of this morning's SAG Award nominations, where Ben's film Argo nabbed a nomination for best ensemble cast. Hopefully, that kind of recognition will continue throughout award season. Ben's now prepping for the Golden Globe nominations, which will be announced bright and early tomorrow.

Ben and his mom are watching over Seraphina and Violet while his wife, Jennifer Garner, stays in New Orleans with baby Samuel. She's continuing to film The Dallas Buyer's Club with costars Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto.

Jamie and Kate are gearing up for their second holiday season as man and wife — they tied the knot back in July 2011. Kate was left to carry the bag after she and Jamie stopped in to buy Belgian chocolate at Leonidas in their neighborhood of Highgate.
