Britney Spears enjoyed a casual afternoon in LA today with her boys Jason Trawick, Sean Preston, and Jayden James. The foursome grabbed lunch at Claim Jumper before piling into her white Mercedes SUV — with multiple bodyguards — and headed off to their next destination.

Britney's been quiet on her social-media accounts in recent days while new rumors are swirling that she could be out from The X Factor. New reports suggest Britney will be fired from The X Factor for multiple reasons, mainly her $15 million contract. Ratings fell short in the show's second season, despite the addition of new judges Britney and Demi Lovato. Thus far, however, there has been no word from Britney, the show, or Simon Cowell confirming her departure. Still, the pop princess's return to TV was just one of the reasons Britney ruled 2012, and we can't wait to see what the next 12 months have in store.

Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder were in high spirits when they caught a flight out of LAX yesterday. The pair had quite a journey ahead of them as they embarked on a trip to China. The Vampire Diaries stars spent their holiday weekend with family and friends and are now on their way to Asia for what's sure to be a memorable New Year's.

Nina made a stylish departure in a classic trench, reminding us that she's one of 2012's biggest breakout fashion stars. She's not the only one on our radar; as a couple, Nina and Ian ranked among the sexiest celebrity couples of the year. 2013 will be full of opportunities and red-carpet appearances for the couple, in addition to new episodes of The Vampire Diaries returning Jan. 17. Both Nina and Ian are also People's Choice Awards nominees. Nina could take home her second consecutive win in the favorite dramatic TV actress category, while Ian is looking for a win for favorite dramatic TV actor. We'll have to wait and see if they step out for the celebration on Jan. 9 as we kick off the 2013 award season. Jessica Simpson's fiancé Eric Johnson played on the sand in Hawaii yesterday with their daughter, Maxwell Johnson. It seems Jessica stayed indoors, while Eric strolled onto the beach with Maxwell to join Jessica's sister Ashlee Simpson, her own son Bronx, and grandma Tina Simpson for some fun in the sand. Jessica was out earlier this week, though. Jessica and Eric held hands for a pre-Christmas walk along the Oahu shore. Their getaway served as a perfect way to announce that Jessica is expecting their second child. Jessica and Eric posted a photo of Maxwell online with the words "big sis" written on the sand around her. The happy news about their expanding their family comes as Jessica's ad for Weight Watchers hits televisions in the US, but she's taking a hiatus from working with the company in order to focus on being maximally healthy until baby number two arrives. Eric and Maxwell were out again this morning for an early a.m. stroll.

It was an eventful week for celebrities, who kept busy by celebrating the holidays with friends and family and sharing lots of photos along the way. We caught up with Jessica Simpson and her fiancé Eric Johnson during their vacation in Hawaii, where they enjoyed the sand and sun and also announced that they are expecting a second baby! Diddy treated himself to another fun end-of-year getaway to St. Barts! Last night, he shopped like a mogul alongside pal Guy Oseary. Diddy clutched a glass of Champagne while he browsed for new gems at a jewelry store. Following the bit of retail therapy, Diddy strolled between shops with his daughters D'Lila and Jessie James. Guy's and Diddy's pals LA Reid and Russell Simmons also joined up for the evening walk.

Today, Diddy paired a t-shirt with swim trunks to try to bodysurf. It was Diddy's latest adventure on the water — remember two years ago when Diddy sat on an inflatable banana? He also played with his kids on an inflatable jungle gym and trampoline. Later on, he treated himself after all the exercise by hitting the hot tub on his yacht. Diddy posted a photo of himself with his legs submerged up to his knees, clutching a drink, with the caption, "Straight off the boat . . . Live from St. Barts!"

Kate Hudson and Matthew Bellamy ventured out in snowy Aspen yesterday. They picked up a coffee for Kate and then continued to browse for gifts on the day after Christmas. Kate and Matthew headed back to the home of her parents, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, with a newly acquired package in hand. The holidays always means a getaway to Aspen for Kate, her kids, and extended family. Matthew's gotten acquainted with the tradition since getting together with Kate in 2010 and becoming engaged to her in 2011.

Kate wrapped up her work obligations this year, promoting Almay cosmetics in NYC, where we found out about what she and Matthew had planned for the holidays. Kate told us, "We're very into the holidays in my family . . . We're a close family, so anything that brings our family together and all of us in a room and that tradition for us . . . and we celebrate Hanukkah, too, so it's a busy time of year." This year could be an extra-special one for Kate if she and Matthew decide to walk down the aisle, but the engaged couple is clearly happy as they are — Kate and Matt ranked among our 100 favorite PDA moments of 2012.

Proof that the holidays truly bring loved ones together, Will Arnett and Amy Poehler were spotted in NYC together on Christmas Eve with sons Archie and Abel. Will and Amy announced their separation in September, but since then have occasionally been seen together, like at Amy's 41st birthday bash.

Will and Amy's split was one of the most shocking breakups of 2012, joining the likes of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Heidi Klum and Seal, and Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis — which one surprised you? Professionally, 2013 is already looking up for both Will and Amy.
