Jimmy kicked off the show with his latest star-studded skit which featured Zooey Deschanel, Connie Britton, Lena Dunham ,and more. Homeland and Modern Family were the big winners of the evening, though there were tons of fun and funny highlights throughout. Seth MacFarlane had an actual onstage blunder when he didn't walk up to the correct mic stand, and Ellen DeGeneres had her own embarrassing moment when she stepped on stage without her pants on. In other highlights, Louis CK was a big winner of the night, Jon Stewart had to fight his way to the stage to accept his 10th Emmy for The Daily Show, and Michael J. Fox earned a standing ovation when he stepped on stage to present Modern Family with its best comedy series win. Emmy Winner Claire Danes Says "It's Way Cool" That Obama Is a Homeland Fan

Homeland star Claire Danes won the Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a drama series, and when the actress came to the press room, she talked about why she thinks the show, which also won for best drama series, is such a success.

Homeland star Claire Danes won the Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a drama series, and when the actress came to the press room, she talked about why she thinks the show, which also won for best drama series, is such a success. Danes addressed the fact that she plays characters with challenges, and how she prepares for those roles. The pregnant star also talked about the show's most famous fan, and how that makes the cast and crew feel.

On how it feels to know that President Obama watches Homeland: "No pressure! It's way cool that he's a fan. It speaks to the relevancy of the show. It's hugely validating. I don't have to write the thing: I just have to play the thing convincingly. We're still stupefied by that fact, that he's tuning in consistently."

On why Homeland is so popular: "It's not so preachy, which is, in some way, why it carries its message so well. I don't think it's a particularly political show; I think it's a psychological thriller. It talks about some very big ideas, but it doesn't take a very biased position. It does speak to our feelings of anxiety and unrest right now. We're in a new era where the enemy is not so clear."

On how she hopes to tell her unborn child about the experience of winning an Emmy: "I think it's going to be some time before my child cares at all about this, if ever. It's great. That's the big award. It does put things in perspective a little bit. It's very nice. This person may not care, but I do."

On the challenges of playing characters like Temple Grandin and Carrie Mathison, who have Asperger's and bipolar disorder, respectively: "I find these conditions incredibly fascinating. It is a coincidence that they both came up, these characters, in such a quick succession, but I really love the process of learning about them and representing them, rendering them, in hopefully a realistic way. I don't think that they are talked about on such a big stage, and I'm very privileged to have a chance to participate in that."

On her favorite TV shows: "I love Louie. That's kind of my favorite. Girls is another favorite. I love Breaking Bad; I love Mad Men. There's kind of a glut. Damages is incredible, The Good Wife . . . big fan, big fan.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus Says Her Latest Emmy "Is a Hell of a Lot of Good Fortune"

Julia Louis-Dreyfus is now a three-time Emmy winner after taking home the trophy for outstanding lead actress in a comedy for Veep.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus is now a three-time Emmy winner after taking home the trophy for outstanding lead actress in a comedy for Veep. The TV veteran was exuberant in the press room, expressing how grateful she is to have won for three different series (she previously won Emmys for Seinfeld and The New Adventures of Old Christine). Louis-Dreyfus also spilled about what she'll be doing after the Emmys wrap and what TV shows she unwinds with.

On how it feels to be honored for three different TV series: "I would say this is a hell of a lot of good fortune. I'm particularly moved to get this for a third series that I've done. I need an Advil. I have a headache! I can't believe it. I'm very thrilled and moved."

On how current politics influence Veep: "It's greatly influenced me and where the show's going. It's an amazing time in politics. Frankly I think all time in politics is kind of amazing in a certain level. It seems front and center right now in our lives. There's a lot of good, rich material from which to glean, not parody; there are little morsels we can take away, almost every day, it seems."

On how she's going to celebrate: "I'm going to have a glass of wine. My husband and I brought our 15-year-old son to the show tonight, so it's very exciting that he's here. He'll go to the Governors Ball with us and then go home because he has school tomorrow. His dad and I are going to go out and live it up a little for sure."

On her favorite shows: "I watch Colbert, I watch The Daily Show. Face the Nation, C-SPAN, Homeland, Breaking Bad, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Girls. And Boardwalk Empire!"

Jon Cryer Says Miley Cyrus "Brought It" on Two and a Half Men

Jon Cryer won the Emmy tonight for outstanding lead actor in a comedy, and though it's not his first win for Two and a Half Men, it is his first award for lead actor; the last time he won, it was in the supporting category.

Jon Cryer won the Emmy tonight for outstanding lead actor in a comedy, and though it's not his first win for Two and a Half Men, it is his first award for lead actor; the last time he won, it was in the supporting category. When Cryer hit the press room, he talked about that distinction, as well as how the landscape of the series has changed since Charlie Sheen's exit. Cryer kept it light, emphasizing that he did not expect to win, and he even had a chance to address the haircut of upcoming guest star Miley Cyrus.

On not expecting to win: "I'm as shocked as you people. That's why my speech sucked."

On the biggest challenge of the show this year: "The biggest challenge this year was relaunching the show. The biggest thing was, 'Can this thing continue?' That it has is amazing, and that this happened is ridiculous."

On how the chemistry with Ashton Kutcher is different than it was with Charlie Sheen: "Clearly, it's totally different. With Charlie it was automatic. With Ashton, Ashton and I are always working on it, and coming up with new stuff. Show nights go incredibly fast now."

On submitting his name in the lead actor category: "When Charlie and I were doing the show together, the show really rested on Charlie. The show was really structured around his character. It felt silly for me to be a lead. Obviously the show changed; they changed the show into more of a partnership."

On Melissa McCarthy's funny Emmy introduction: "That woman can do no wrong. She makes me howl with laughter, so I'll take it."

On being upgraded from supporting actor to lead actor: "I will be impossible to live with after this. I will be brandishing this."

On who he thought would win: "I thought Jim Parsons was going to win again. Clearly Big Bang is at the top of its game right now, and it obviously has not gotten any worse. I just did not for a minute think this was going to happen."

On Miley Cyrus, who is guest starring on Two and Half Men this season: "She plays kind of a motormouth character, so they gave her page-long monologues. All week she was on book with them, which is understandable. But even when we got within two hours of the show, she was still on book, and we were thinking, uh oh, Miley better bring it. Miley brought it. Miley was fantastic, on fire. Then I remembered, oh yes, she was hatched in the Disney labs in Burbank, and grown for just this sitcom situation. I know her haircut is controversial but I lay on the side of: I love it, I think she looks fantastic."
