24 Likely to Be Cancelled After Eight Seasons

Will You Miss 24 If It Gets Canceled?

Jack Bauer may not live to see another day on the small screen after all. Word on the street is that execs at Fox are ready to pull the plug on 24 since ratings are down and the show costs so much to produce. The good news is that the 24 movie is still on the table, which means we don't have to worry about Jack kicking the bucket at the end of season eight.

I've run hot and cold with the series over the eight seasons, so I wouldn't be totally heartbroken to see the end of 24. How many times can Jack Bauer really escape death anyway? What about you — will you miss 24 if it gets canceled?

I've loved 24. Up until this season. It is just lacking this year. Lately, even after I Tivo it, I find myself putting off watching it until I've watched everything else.

I think 8 seasons is a good run. I just started watching this show (I randomly Netflixed it and got hooked) and I think it's amazing, but a show like this shouldn't go on for that long. Jack really shouldn't have lived this long, considering his job. It's becoming unrealistic.

Jack, it's been a good run but I think it's time to retire. :(

I am so over 24, I watch it just to appease hubby, but I roll my eyes the entire time. It gets more ridiculous each season. I mean, really? They let a retired person completely run an operation? Jack should be a greeter at Walmart by now ...

uh; yeah! although I actually think it is about time that it ends (it should have ended three seasons ago - not because the last three seasons weren't great but because I really don't think any show should go on for more than five seasons max). the unfortunate reality is that no matter how great a show is and how talented the writers are, it is virtually impossible (at least I can't think of any) for a show to stay consistently engaging, smart, and harmonious for more than a few seasons (three is usually the most; I'll accept five) - the British have it right limiting most of their series to three seasons (with the exception of Dr. Who, of course). 24 is a great show; there really is no more truthful or poetic way to put it because it's such a great rough-and-tumble action show - it's not trying to be Shakespeare - and yet it has still managed to include smart writing, interesting characters, and good balance. of course, not every moment has been perfect, but I don't have too many complaints. that being said; it should end now before it gets really bad...

If you asked this last year my answer might have been yes but this season has been so lackluster and they seem to be running out of original ideas so it's best if they change focus and concentrate on the movie.
