Adam and Eve: Prayed in Manhattan

Having exhausted many fairy tales, Disney is now apparently turning to the Bible for inspiration. The studio just paid a hefty sum to buy a spec script for a romantic comedy about the Adam and Eve story — only it's set in modern-day New York. Check out the plot description for All About Adam, which made me laugh out loud:

Spec follows the biblical Adam as he trails Eve to modern-day Gotham after they have a lover's quarrel. Adam discovers Satan was behind the breakup.

Oh, isn't that always the case, Adam? "Satan did it!" Sure. Sure, he did.

Also, isn't the "only people on earth" thing kind of essential to the Adam and Eve story? Or maybe it'll be like, Adam and Eve, the "Heroes" edition where they have Hiro's time traveling powers and instead of "5 Years Gone" it's more like several thousand.

Who do you think will play the lead roles? I say Elisabeth Hasselbeck leaves "The View" and tries her hand at Eve.

I agree with pinupsweetheart...Disney does some out there things sometimes, but this sounds more than bizarre.

This sounds strange, even for Disney.

This sound ridiculous. I will give them a hand for the title, though. I'm a sucker for anything that references classic movies (All About Eve, here).

I did the same thing, Buzz, and then I was reading what you said about their use of fairy tales and I started to wonder! I assume live action, but you just never know with Disney...Be interesting to see what happens with this one though!

ALSW, I didn't even think about that, I just assumed it would be live action! The Variety article has very few details, and that's one that's missing.

Good Grief! I have such a love hate relationship with Disney. I can't wait to see the movie box or poster: DISNEY'S Adam and Eve. You know how they take everything they do and make it seem like thier own. :oy:

Seems so odd. Maybe I missed it, but animated or live action? And Elizabeth Hasselbeck! HA! :)
