Beasts of No Nation: Watch the Trailer For Netflix's Oscar Hopeful

One of the reasons that (maybe) True Detective season two isn't so hot could be the loss of director Cary Fukunaga, who was at the helm for season one (for which he won an Emmy). Good news: he's re-emerged, having directed one of the first full-length feature films that will stream on Netflix, Beasts of No Nation. Starring Idris Elba, the film is an adaptation of Uzodinma Iweala's novel of the same name about a child solider, Agu, in an unnamed West African country. From the trailer for the film, you know it's not going to be an easy watch — but it will probably be a profound one. The film was just screened to rave reviews at the Venice Film Festival, and it will start streaming on Oct. 16, the same day it will be released in a handful of theaters.
